Chapter Four

Lucky girl. Now spill. "Just wait. I'll tell you later". She responded. Max had stood up and was set to leave when he noticed that I was going to expose him. He lifted the window seal and went out. "Oh so that's it. Beautiful!". I remarked. "There's no telling mum and dad please" she started. " When you spill,I'll decide if that's a good option". I told her. "I'm not ready to do that please". She pleaded. That was new. As nice as she was,she never said please to anyone. "I hope you're okay though?" I asked her. "I'm fine. I promise" she answered. We'd just act like last five minutes never happened. Simple! I reassured myself. Left her room and got ready for school. "Sweetheart, will you be able to go to school today?" My dad asked as he walked into the room. I contemplated saying a no and taking time to ransack Michelle's room for hints. But secondly, I had dance practice. "Yes,I'm okay now" I told him. "Sure? You still look pale" he asked. "That's probably from the chores" I replied dismissively. "Oh dear dear what chores?" He asked surprised. Wait! What? He didn't know that I was subjected to house chores every morning. "Normal chores like cleaning the house, washing the dishes and doing the laundry" I responded. "Why?" He asked. "What do you mean by why?" I replied. "Never mind". He responded. He marched furiously out of my room to Lizzy's room. As much as I'd love to tiptoe and listen to whatever he had to say to her,I didn't seem it necessary. I knew my dad was a weakling and he will just end up being persuaded to think it's for my best. I took my bag as soon as I heard the school bus horn. Escape time!
