Alan The drive back to the Vance manor was quiet, but it wasn’t empty. Cyril’s hand fit perfectly in mine, her fingers lacing through mine like they’d been waiting for this moment for weeks. I kept one hand on the steering wheel, the other holding hers, as if letting go could undo everything we had just rebuilt. Every time I felt her grip tighten, I reminded myself that she was here, with me, finally. That she hadn’t disappeared like before. That she wasn’t running.
