Always

Chloe was nervous as she walked into the coffee shop. She had never been on a blind date before, and she didn't know what to expect. She had met Matteo online a few weeks ago, and they had hit it off right away. They had talked for hours on the phone, and she felt like she knew him really well. But now that she was here, she was starting to have second thoughts. She scanned the coffee shop for Matteo, but she didn't see him anywhere. She was about to give up and leave when she saw him sitting in a corner booth. He stood up when he saw her, and she couldn't help but smile. He was even more handsome in person than he was in his pictures. "Chloe?" he asked. "Yes," she said. "It's so nice to finally meet you," he said. "You too," she said. They sat down and ordered coffee. They talked for hours, and Chloe felt like she was in a dream. Matteo was everything she had ever wanted in a man. He was kind, funny, and intelligent. She couldn't believe her luck. At the end of the night, Matteo walked Chloe to her car. He leaned in and kissed her goodnight. It was the most magical kiss she had ever experienced. "I had a really great time tonight," Matteo said. "Me too," Chloe said. "I'd love to see you again," Matteo said. "I'd love that too," Chloe said. They made plans to see each other again the next weekend, and Chloe floated home on a cloud of happiness. She couldn't wait to see Matteo again. Over the next few weeks, Chloe and Matteo fell in love. They spent every waking moment together, and they couldn't get enough of each other. They were so happy together, and they knew that they were meant to be together. But when Chloe reached the meeting place, he was nowhere to be seen, so trying not to panic, she called him, but the call went straight to voicemail. Matteo stood by the window, his heart heavy with anguish. The decision he had made weighed heavily on his soul, but he knew he had no choice. The world outside seemed to mirror his inner turmoil, with dark clouds rolling across the sky, casting a gloomy shadow over everything. Chloe, his love, sat on the couch in their cosy living room, engrossed in a book. Her laughter, usually a source of joy for Matteo, now pierced his heart. He couldn't bear to see the pain in her eyes when he told her the truth. But he couldn't ignore the growing urgency inside him either. He knew he had to leave, to protect her from the dangerous forces that were closing in on him. It wasn't fair, but it was the only way to keep her safe. If he stayed, their love would become a liability, a target for those who sought to harm him. Matteo's involvement in a secret organization had placed a target on his back, and now he had to sever the ties that bound them together. Taking a deep breath, Matteo approached Chloe, his footsteps echoing through the room. She looked up, her eyes lighting up with affection and curiosity. Her gaze made it even harder for him to go through with his plan. "Chloe," he said, his voice trembling with a mixture of pain and resolve. "I need to leave." Her smile vanished, replaced by confusion and concern. "Leave? Where are you going? Why?" Matteo's heart shattered at the sight of her distress, but he couldn't let his emotions weaken his resolve. "I can't tell you the details, but I'm involved in something dangerous. If I stay, it could put you in harm's way. I have to leave to keep you safe." Tears welled up in Chloe's eyes as she stood up, her voice choked with emotion. "You can't just leave like this, Matteo. We're supposed to face everything together. I can handle it, whatever it is." "Not this time, it's too dangerous." "But Matt, I love you." "I know you're strong, Valeria," he replied, his voice filled with both admiration and pain. "But this is bigger than both of us. Trust me, leaving is the only way to protect you. I love you too much to let anything happen to you." Valeria reached out, grasping his hand tightly. "But what about us? Our future together?" Matteo's grip tightened around her hand, his voice breaking. "I don't know what the future holds, but I promise you, Chloe, that my love for you will never waver. This is the hardest decision I've ever made, but it's the only choice I have." With a heavy heart, Matteo pulled away from Valeria's grasp and walked towards the door. Each step felt like a dagger piercing his soul, tearing him further away from the love of his life. He knew this departure would leave a void in both their hearts, but he hoped it would also give them a chance at a safer future. As he opened the door, a gust of wind blew through the room, carrying with it the scent of uncertainty and heartbreak. Matteo glanced back one last time, locking eyes with Chloe, etching her tear-stained face into his memory. Then, without another word, he stepped outside, leaving behind the woman he loved more than life itself. The door closed with a resounding thud, echoing the weight of their shattered dreams. Matteo walked away, his heart heavy with sorrow, knowing that in order to protect her, he had to sacrifice their love. As he walked away from the door slowly and with his heart shattered into a million pieces, he walked and was about to turn the corner when he heard footsteps pounding on the ground heading towards him. He spun around and was surprised to see Chloe, who threw her arms around his neck. " I will always love you," she whispered into his ear with tears streaming heavily down her face. He hugged her back and when he pulled away from her he cupped her face with both his hands. bringing her face close to his and placing his forehead against hers and whispering in a trembling voice " Always." then he spun around and headed down the street disappearing from view.
