IT WILL CONTROL YOU

I didn’t move for a long time. The wind picked up, threading through my hair and tugging at the pages of the notebook in my hands. But I was rooted—half in this world, half in something else. Killian’s words echoed in my mind. “I’m the beginning of your truth.” What did that even mean? The beginning? Of what? By the time I finally walked home, dusk had started to settle. The notebook stayed with me, tucked under my arm like a secret I wasn’t ready to share. I didn’t open it again—not yet. Just knowing it existed was enough to keep my thoughts racing all night. That night, I dreamed. Of a forest. Of silver moonlight and a sound like thunder in the distance—except it wasn’t thunder. It was a heartbeat. Mine. Or maybe… not mine. Something else moved through the trees.
