“I love you,” Aaron said, touching my cheek.
I turned my head and shyly kissed his palm. “You really need to go back?”
“Yes. I don’t know what happened. At first, negotiations with your father were going just fine. Now, he’s demanding to see Knox, that Knox come here and negotiate himself.” Aaron shook his head. “It’s very confusing to me that he changed his mind so suddenly. He didn’t say I said or did something wrong, did he?”
“Father doesn’t talk to us about his political dealings. Well, I mean, he talks to Jack, but I think Jack might still be angry with you over running off with me. Even though that was my fault,” I replied.
Aaron gave me a soft kiss. “I’d have followed you anywhere.”
“I know.” My cheeks were on fire, so he kissed those as well.
