After two days assessing the situation at Upsal, I hastened to Ingegerd’s farm to where Jarl Ragnvald, Bjorn and Hjalte had repaired, far from the indiscreet ears of the court. The purpose of the visit was to convince Olof’s daughter to accept Olaf the Thick’s proposal of matrimony. They impressed Ingegerd with how in one night, Olaf had taken five monarchs prisoners, deprived them of their lands and seized their kingdoms.
