The New Dawn

353 Words
The reconstruction took months. I worked alongside my people, healing the wounded and helping to rebuild. Damian was at my side every step of the way. And slowly, I began to forgive him. "I never stopped loving you," he said one evening, as we watched the sunset over the newly rebuilt city. "I know." "Can you ever trust me again?" I looked at him4really looked at him. The man who had broken my heart. The man who had saved my life. The man who had fought beside me against impossible odds. "I think I can," I said softly. "But it will take time." "I have all the time in the world." He took my hand, and for the first time in months, I didn't pull away. --- A year later, I stood in the newly consecrated temple, the Moon Goddess's blessing warm in my chest. Damian stood before me, his eyes bright with unshed tears. "I, Alpha Damian Blackwood, take you, Elara Moonstone, as my mate. For as long as the moon shines and the stars burn, I will love you, protect you, and honor you." His voice broke on the last words. "I don't deserve you. But I will spend every moment of forever trying to be worthy of you." I took his hands, my own voice trembling. "I, Elara Moonstone, the Luna Chosen, accept you. You broke my heart once. But you also saved my life. You fought beside me. You loved me when I couldn't love myself." I reached up and touched his face. "I forgive you, Damian." The tears he had been holding back finally fell. He pulled me into his arms, burying his face in my hair. "I love you. I love you so much it terrifies me." "I know. I love you too." We kissed as the pack cheered, and the moon above shone brighter than it had in a thousand years. Because the Luna Chosen had finally found her place. Not as a weapon. Not as a prophecy. But as a leader. A mate. A survivor. And this was only the beginning. **THE END... FOR NOW**
