After three days in the hospital Kalani was finally released to go home. Those three days were amazing Kalani was finally with her family again. But she noticed her Milani seemed withdrawn a bit. Was Milani not happy that she back? They were so close before she was taken and now Milani could not even look her in the eye. Why was she acting this way? It broke Kalani’s heart in ways one couldn’t imagine.
As they stepped into the home, so many memories came back to Kalani. Flashbacks of her running up the stairs after her sister took a barbie, or when she was angry at the world, many birthday parties, even getting ready for home coming and such. She looked back towards the door where the memory of her and Marcos kissing for the first time. She quickly wiped a tear away. “Are you okay hun?’’ her mother asked. “Yeah it just feels so good to be home.” She replied. Her mother hugged her tightly and said, “You don’t know how much we prayed for you to come home to us, and our prayers were finally answered.”
“Yes, yes we’re all happy Kalani is back, but we don’t have to hug every two seconds about it.” Replied Milani. Kalani was a little hurt and their mother gave Milani an angry look. Milani had a sorry look on her faced “Lo siento mama but I rather just act like my sister has been here for the last 12 years and not focus on the terrible situation.” Milani replied. “Come hermana lets go to my room you can borrow some clothes so we can go shopping.” Kalani smiled at their mom and followed her little sister up the stairs.
“Wow you are so much taller than me Milani! I’ll have to wear a skirt.” Kalani excitedly said. She was happy to be out of the gym shorts and tee shirt that “Sir” brought her to wear. “I’m sorry that you got mama’s short height hermana. Maybe we should see if our neighbor’s toddler has clothes more height friendly for you.” Joked Milani. “Mala!” yelled Kalani as she threw a pillow at her sister.
Suddenly Milani’s phone rung and she stepped out into the hallway for privacy but Kalani could still hear her. “Bueno? Oh, Hola Amor como estas? Si si ella esta aki conmigo. No, I haven’t talked to her about it yet. Well why not? We have to tell her she needs to know. Okay Okay I won’t tell her yet. I got to go; I’ll call you later. Bye babe.” Milani walked back into the room she seemed upset. “Is everything okay?” Kalani asked her. “Hmm? Oh yeah, its fine. Are you ready to go shopping?” She replied and stormed out of the room. They went downstairs and their dad asked them, “Are you girls ready to go?” “Si papa.” They both said.
They got into a car and drove to a little wanna-be mall that their little town had. It was small but they had very cute clothes. “Buy anything you girls need.” Their father said at them. Then he got a sad look and said, “I have 12 years to make up for.” Kalani hugged her father tightly with tears in her eyes. “Okay, yeah enough tears. We are here together.” Milani said as she pulled Kalani towards a*****e. Kalani was looking through clothes as Milani went to try some on, when she felt someone grab her from behind, her fight mode activated, and she started wiggling and swinging to get out of the hold. She turned around and landed a hard punch. “Ow! Calm down its me Marcos!” the man yelled. Kalani gasped and threw her arms around him, tears streaming down both their faces. He kissed her cheeks and hugged her tighter to him. They heard someone clearing their throats loudly and seen Milani standing there looking very p****d off with a strange but familiar man. “You’re not going to say hi to me Kalani? Ashleigh would be very hurt that you didn’t recognized her favorite brother.” He said smiling showing his perfect white teeth. “Oh my god Ashton!!” She let go of Marcos and threw herself into his arms. Milani hugged Marcos and said, “What are you doing here babe?” Kalani’s face dropped and Marcos looked at her with sad eyes. She had even more tears coming out now. “Why did she call you Babe?! Are you with my sister?” “Yes, we are together now we were each other’s comforts when everyone thought you ran away from us.” Milani answered for Marcos smirking at her sister. “So, I get kidnapped and the first thing you do is run to my SISTER?! And you, what a sister you are to go after my boyfriend! I was that replaceable to you guys? I mattered so little?” Kalani yelled. “Come on we are making a scene, lets go.” Marcos said heart broken over the fact Kalani thought he could ever replace her.
“No, you guys stay, and I will go find papa.” Kalani ran out of the store crying. As she ran out, she bumped into a hard chest. “Oh my god! I am so sorry.” “Kalani? Are you okay?” she knew that voice she looked up to the beautiful face of her savior that night.
