Chapter 65: Progress I

1505 Words
One day, when Rekka was training, Whitebolt headed towards the adventurer's guild for the first time in a long while. When he entered, the place wasn't as crowded as usual. Whitebolt knew the reason behind it. He saw a poster on a wall, declaring that the guild was in need of adventurers, and the minimal PL to join decreased from 1000 to 500. Whitebolt was mad, thinking that the casualties would grow, but there was nothing he could do. He tore off the poster and threw it away. After he, went to the receptionist table. There, Harumi was standing, trying to avoid eye contact. -Whitebolt-san, how can I help you? – She asked in a quiet tone, almost whispering. -Haru, I came to apologize to you. – Whitebolt said in a semi soothing voice. Harumi lifted her head, as Whitebolt never calls her by name. -I realize how I treated you was coldhearted and wrong. Whitebolt looked at Harumi, but saw her expression hasn't changed. -Were you safe during that period, is your family safe? My father is doing great. – Whitebolt tried to change the subject. -Thanks Whitebolt-san, my family is fine, but I was stabbed and Rekka saved me. -You were stabbed!? – Whitebolt was surprised. -Yes, but that doesn't matter. Why did you came here Whitebolt-san? – Harumi was giving him a cold shoulder. -Did your injury heal? – He was concerned. -Yeah, it was mostly healed by Rekka. He was there when I needed him. -That's great. – Whitebolt sighed – I don't want our relationship to be over. Is there something I can do to regain your trust? You are my childhood friend after all. -Go on a date with me. -What? – Whitebolt thought he heard it wrong. -Go on a date with me. – She said in the same quiet tone while looking down. Whitebolt was flustered. He always thought Harumi as friend. He still had a serious face. -When? – He asked. -So, you will go out with me? -Go out with you? – Whitebolt wasn't thinking straight, this was all too sudden for him – O-okay... But when? Harumi suddenly looked up with a bright smile on her face. She moved her arms behind her back and moved towards Whitebolt. -You will arrange the date. – She giggled. -Uh, are you free tomorrow? -No. But I will be on Sunday. – Said Harumi in a slightly sad tone. -Okay, I will leave now then. – Said Whitebolt and started heading out. Harumi waved her hand, got on her heels and said to him. -Goodbye Ken-chan! Whitebolt didn't even look back. He was in shock. -Harumi liked me all along? I guess I will go out with her so she doesn't get mad at me. Whitebolt returned to the mansion. He went to the training grounds and saw Rekka creating a long sword. -Seems you are close to mastering it, it only took you two weeks too. – Said Whitebolt as he approached him. Rekka looked over. -Yes! I really like creating a sword. – He said and wiped off his sweat – Are you okay Whitebolt, your face is red. -I probably just caught a cold. – Answered Whitebolt – How are your friends doing? -They are doing great. Their training is going smoothly but, it seems I was able to do the same tasks much faster. -Rekka, I want to tell you something. You are abnormal, and I'm scared of it, in a good way. -What? – Rekka got worried. -By abnormal it means you learn fast, too fast. The technique you are mastering right now, took me a whole year to learn. Same with the other techniques. You are getting stronger and stronger in a really fast pace. I don't know how strong you will be in a couple of years to be honest. Maybe even stronger that me. Rekka was somewhat relieved. -This took you one year? – He curiously asked. -Yes, and it didn't even take a month for you. – Whitebolt thought of something – Hey, why don't we check your stats, wait for me. Whitebolt went down the basement. Some places were shattered from the ground trembling at the invasion. In his basement, he had a collection of scrolls. He isn't using them because he either doesn't have the time to master a new skill, or it may not be compatible for his body and ruin his MP control for a long period of time. He took a Magic Test scroll. When he got up a maid greeted him. -Whitebolt-sama, is it okay for Koshi-san to stay here for the summer? – The maid bowed – Please! -Okay, but he needs to leave after summer ends. This isn't a hotel. Why do you want him to stay anyway? -Well um, well I. – The maids face got red. He resembled her to himself when Harumi said to go out with her. -I don't need to know the details. – Whitebolt sighed and wanted to leave. -Thank you Whitebolt-sama! -How are the renovations going? – He asked as he was about to leave the mansion. -It will be over next week. -Good. – He said and left. Whitebolt walked to Rekka with the scroll, wondering how much Rekka grew. -You remember how to use them, right? – Asked Whitebolt. -How could I forgot? – Said Rekka in a kind of irritated voice. He started flowing MP into the scroll. For a split second, Whitebolt saw a tint of red MP and got worried. -Rekka, when you finish, show me your seal. – He said in a serious tone. -Okay? – Rekka got confused. Rekka finished and looked at the scroll. His eyes shined brightly. -LOOK WHITEBOLT! – He said in excitement and handed over the scroll. Whitebolt was amazed. -LVL 4 magic but 10.250 PL, impressive. – Whitebolt thought to himself – It was 9.000 last time, it increased by 1.250 since last time. How? -Whitebolt, lets spar! – Said Rekka. -What? We can't. – Answered Whitebolt. -Why? I'm not weak anymore! – Rekka was serious. -You can get hurt. -I won't! Whitebolt realized that he couldn't change Rekkas mind. -*Sigh* Fine, but I won't be on the offensive. Don't worry, you can go all out. – He grinned. -Okay! -Get ready. Whitebolt crossed his arms. -HERE I COME! – Shouted Rekka. Rekka created a sword and immediately jumped forwards. Whitebolt dodged. -What speed. – He thought. Rekka turned around and tried to hit Whitebolt, but he was too fast for him. Rekka created three fireballs in his hand and threw them. Whitebolt made a shield and blocked the attack. -You aren't half bad. – He said and giggled. Rekka them jumped and tried to pierce Whitebolt from above, but Whitebolt just jumped away and slapped Rekka. The kid got irritated. -I won't joke around this time! – Said Rekka and made an evil smile. Whitebolt smiled back. Rekka tightly gripped his sword. -I hope I do this as I trained. – He thought. He attacked Whitebolt and swung his sword. Whitebolt jumped again jumped away, but he saw in the place Rekka swung, three fireballs were created. They suddenly changed their direction towards Whitebolt. He didn't expect this, but still easily dodged them. Rekka attacked again and behind of him fireballs flew by, all aimed at Whitebolt. -When did he learn this? – Whitebolt was amazed. Rekka was fighting with all his might. He could swing his sword, and in the swing create fireballs. When Whitebolt noticed Rekka was getting tired, he thought of going offensive once. When Rekka attacked, he created a spear and made Rekka drop his weapon. Immediately, he used leg sweep and made Rekka fall down on the ground on his back. When Rekka opened his eyes, he saw Whitebolt was holding a spear to his nose and got scared. Whitebolt giggled, made the spear disappear and helped Rekka stand up. -Those were some outstanding moves. – Said Whitebolt – When did you learn those skills? -I read them in the magic book and trained secretly. I wanted to surprise you, but I was nowhere close to defeating you! – Said slightly annoyed Rekka – What's your PL? -Well, last time I checked, I think it was, 70.000? -70.000!? – Rekka shouted as he was in shock – I didn't know you were that strong! Whitebolt got irritated hearing those words. -I am a Tier 5, don't underestimate me. – He started heading towards the mansion – Come on, that's enough training. We can spar tomorrow too. It will increase you fighting skill. Rekka nodded his head. In the way, Whitebolt said. -Sometimes, some ones PL doesn't resemble their true strength. The same applies to you. Rekka got happy hearing those words. They got home, ate, played some games and went to sleep. *Meanwhile* -It's done. – Giggled Jetos – Tomorrow, they will see that how far a broken person can go, to fulfill his promise.
