-What are you doing? – Asked confused Rekka.
Rekka got weirded out by the elite kid. Guards tried to run to them to stop their fight, but the man from the stage held them back.
-Let them be. They won’t get hurt. – He said – This will be interesting.
Akisuke took a fighting stance.
-I have seen your battle, and see you as a worthy opponent. Please, fight me. I want to see the difference between us. – He then thought to himself – He is strong, but if I beat him, I will get a lot of reputation.
-Sorry but, no. – Rekka said shyly – We have no need to fight, the exam is already over, and we passed! – He smiled.
-Passing this test isn’t enough for me. – Akisuke stroked his silver hair – I strive to be the best for my whole life. – He got ready for a fight – And to be the best, you have to defeat the best.
Rekka was annoyed at this point.
-Listen, I don’t want to fight, especially in these circumstances. – Rekka looked around – Hundreds of people are watching us.
-Just a small fight. We won’t get hurt because of resistance magic. You have nothing to lose. – Akisuke was starting to get persistent.
-We have to stop them! – Said the guards.
-Don’t. – Said the man.
The crowd started cheering on.
-Fight, fight, fight! – They were screaming as if they were watching wild beasts fight.
Rekkas friends were worried and Rekka was anxious. Oneiros grinned and shook the chains. Rekkas vision changed. He was in the burning city once again, thirsting for blood. Akisuke got startled after he saw Rekkas glowing eyes.
-Look’s like you finally agreed. – Akisuke made a smirk grin.
Rekkas friends noticed his eyes.
-Oh, no! – Said Maeko to Kaito.
-What? – Kaito got confused.
-Look at Rekkas eyes!
-They’re red. Cool right? – Kaito giggled and the twins followed.
Maeko sat down in her seat.
-I hope this goes well.
Rekka spread his arms. The crowd looked at the demon standing if front of them.
-COME AT ME RICH BOY! LET’S SEE WHO’S SUPERIOR! – He laughed.
-Let us go! – Said the guards.
-Wait for it. – Said the man and looked closely.
Rekka created a long sword and got ready to jump in front. In his vision, he was seeing civilians running away from him. Akisuke charged in first. – I have been learning martial arts for years. I won’t lose!
He ran and tried to kick Rekka, but he missed and Rekka kicked him with all of his might. Akisuke flew behind and as he was in the air Rekka tried to pierce him in the chest. Akisuke got terrified. He hit the wall and broke it. He starting observing himself.
-If not for the resistance magic, I would’ve been dead. – He looked at Rekka with red glowing eyes – He is seriously trying to kill me.
The crowd cheered on, but his friends looked disturbed.
-He isn’t like himself.
Rekka swung his sword and created multiple fireballs. He then created fireballs in his arm and all at once threw them. Akisuke ran away from them, but the fireballs changed directions and started chasing him. Rekka suddenly appeared in front of him and punched him, then hit him with his sword. Akisuke rolled away in the dirt. He had scratches.
-The resistance magic is wearing off! – He was terrified.
-KILL, KILL, KILL! CHOP THEM ALL INTO PIECES! – Thought Rekka and laughed.
-Rekka, what are you doing!? – Shouted Sora – Come to your senses!
-Sora? – Thought Rekka.
He started to regain his vision and snapped out of it. He looked in front and saw the hurt and terrified Akisuke. Oneiros shook the chains again and smiled. Rekkas mind started to corrupt again.
-AH, NO, NO! – He made the flame sword disappear fell on his knees.
-This is my opening! – Thought Akisuke.
He ran and tried to kick Rekka, but Rekka stopped it with his arm and looked up. Only one of his eyes were red.
-I, won’t succumb! – Said Rekka.
Out of his will, he created a sword. He tried to stop himself, but couldn’t. Hunger for fresh blood was corrupting his mind. He started swinging his sword. Akisuke tried to dodge it. He was making swift movements, but Rekka predicted them.
-No, no… - Said Rekka.
He pierced the ground this his sword. Akisuke felt something from the ground. Suddenly, flames ruptured the arena. It was aiming at Akisuke.
-Go. – Said the man.
The guards ran on the arena.
-Stop Rekka! – Shouted Maeko – You’re scaring me!
The crowd stopped cheering on. They were fearfully watching Akisuke running for his life.
-STOP, AAAAH! – Shouted Rekka, pulled the sword out and made it disappear.
His eyes went back to normal. He fell on the ground from the force. Rekka looked at the boy he nearly killed. Guards rushed to him.
-What were you doing child? – They got a hold on Rekka with caution – These kinds of acts can result to an expulsion!
-I… I’m sorry. I took it too far. – Said Rekka – What would’ve happened if not for my friends. – He thought.
Akisuke couldn’t speak. He thought he was the strongest here and got beaten without a chance to fight back. His pride was left in shambles.
-I should’ve taken the warning he gave me. – He thought.
-He is the kid Maya told us about a year ago. – Said the man and stood up – He completely passed my expectations.
The kids in the arena were left in shock. A while after, the results came in. Rekka and his friends passed the exams. They were happy and cheered each other on. Rekka thought about his future.
-I need to become strong, or else… - He thought about the demon inside him.
Whitebolt congratulated him and they had a feast that night. The next day, Whitebolt read the newspaper. He read it rarely, but wanted to catch up to what was going on. He read about the Battle Academy entry exams and closed it immediately after.
-I told you not to seek a lot of attention Rekka.
Oneiros was hanging on the wall with holy chains. For some reason, he had a happy look.
-My little toy. Soon, the horrible acts you are seeing won’t be just “illusions". – He then laughed.
One chain had a part broken.
-My time will come.
