Chapter 88: Golden Battle

The teacher stood near the board.
-As you all have noticed, we have a new student. Asahi Rekka, please walk up.
Rekka nervously stood up. He felt that everybody was staring at him.
-Hello. – He quietly said and waved his hand.
-As you all heard the news. *Sigh*, Rekka-kun is the strongest student in our academy, even stronger than, me.
Everybody in the class was surprised. Ichika and Ren looked annoyed. The teacher continued.
-Rekka-kun, tell us more about yourself. – She had a soothing voice.
-Umm. – Rekka straightened his back and lifted up his head – My name is Asahi Rekka. I strive to become an adventurer. - He bowed – Nice to meet you all.
-Same to us. – Awkwardly said the students – I thought the all popular Rekka wouldn’t be this shy. – They thought.
-Why would someone this strong join the academy for beginners? You are also the youngest one here. – Asked the teacher.
Rekka thought for a while.
-I think that this experience will help me to become wiser and stronger. I want to get to know of myself more.
-How mature. – Thought the teacher – Thanks for the introduction, you may sit down.
-O-okay. – Said Rekka and sat down in his seat.
-Let the class commence. – Said the teacher and took out some books.
Bell rang and the class ended. Rekka had his head on the desk, sulking out of boredom. Suddenly, Red students surrounded Rekka.
-Tell us more about yourself!
-Where are you from?
-Is your appearance natural?
Rekka was annoyed.
-It’s the same all over again.
He awkwardly answered all questions and the recess passed. Another teacher walked in. The students sat down in their seats. Rekka was exhausted.
-Hello Ichiro-sensei. – Said the students.
-Hello everyone! Long time no see. – Ichiro looked over the class and noticed Rekka – So that’s who’s everyone is talking about – He thought.
He proceeded to walk to the teacher table.
-It’s been a long time kids, but let’s not waste any time. Let’s learn about monsters and their weaknesses today. This information will help you in your future adventures.
-Alright! – Rekka was pumped up – At least this will be interesting.
The bell rang once more and Rekka was sulking, again.
-Akio taught me these… This is too exhausting.
Kids swarmed Rekka again. Ichika and Ren were watching from afar.
-Hey, can you create your sword? – Said one cute girl.
-Yeah! That was soo coool! – Said another girl.
-Alright. – Rekka was tired.
He stood up and created his flame longsword. Fire circled around it like wind. For Rekka, using magic was more comfortable with Whitebolts gifted gloves.
-Heh, looks like the rumors were true, he is stronger than the teachers here. – Thought Ichiro and walked up to Rekka – Rekka-chan! Remember me? You met me a while ago in the adventurers guild.
Rekka was confused.
-Sorry, I don’t. – Rekka made the sword disappear, amazing the students around him.
-It’s okay. - Ichiro expected Rekka to remember him - We will have the next lesson on the training grounds. I’ll be waiting for you there.
Ichiro left the classroom and others followed.
-Follow me Rekka-san so you don’t get lost. – Said Ichika.
Ren followed them. On the hallway, Ren put his arm around Rekkas shoulder, startling him.
-Rekka-kun, you’re so lucky getting everyone’s attention on the first day.
-Hey! On the training grounds, we will have sparring lessons. Spar with me! – Ren giggled.
-Another one? - He thought - Fine. – Answered Rekka – He’s golden like me.
After a long and tedious walk, they arrived at their destination. The training ground here was bigger than Whitebolts. It also had many other stuff, like obstacles, lines, etc. Children were stretching and running. Rekka noticed that kids with other colors were around. He started searching for his friends, but couldn’t find them. Rekka sighed and returned to his class. Ichiro blew the whistle.
-Everyone gather around please. – Once everyone gathered, he said – To get warmed up, let’s run a couple laps around.
The kids sighed, but obliged. They started running, but Rekka didn’t.
-This training is nothing compared to even Akios! – He thought that the Battle Academy was full with strong kids and it would be difficult, but it was the opposite.
Rekka took position and started running with all of his might. He outran everyone in the split of a second. He ran five laps, stopped and sat down. Ichiro approached him.
-You didn’t have to try that hard. – Ichiro sat down next to him – I know the feeling you are experiencing. This looks too easy for you, right? – He looked over at the mentally exhausted Rekka – Even if you don’t get stronger here, people adore you. You fill meet lot’s of wonderful profiles and become friends with them. – He stood up – Come on, the next training will start.
He walked over the tired students.
-Alright everyone, to make things more fun here, why don’t we do a sparring session?
The students looked over at Rekka and slowly nodded their heads.
-You know the rules. – Said Ichiro – Whoever goes first, I will put resistance magic on.
Ren walked up.
-I will go first! I will spar with Rekka-kun! – He smiled.
The kids looked amazed.
-He is golden and has more experience than Rekka, he won’t lose. – They thought.
Rekka looked excited. They walked over to the sparring area. Ichiro put on magic on them.
-Good luck you two. – He giggled.
-Try your best! – The students cheered on.
Rekka and Ren took positions.
-Don’t hold back on me, okay? – Said Ren – I won’t too.
Rekka nodded his head.
-Alright, let the match commence! – Shouted Ichiro.
Rekka observed Ren. He thought it would’ve been a free win. Ren put his hands together and started making sighs.
-Lighting Bolt, UPHOLD! – He shouted.
From his eyes, lightning bolts arose. His movements left electricity.
-This might be fun. – Said Rekka.
-HERE I COME! – Screamed Ren.
He suddenly dashed forwards. Blue lightning was emitting from his body. He quickly appeared in front of Rekka and punched him. Rekka blocked it with his elbows, but electricity ran down his body.
-You can’t take a direct hit from me!
-This guys is trouble! – Thought Rekka – He is Golden, but still!
Rekka started fighting serious. He created a longsword and jumped back. The crowd was excited, even the teachers. They all gathered and looked at two Golden’s battle.
Ren was swirling punches left and right. Occasionally, he created small magic orbs and threw it at Rekka. Rekka was on defensive. He had enough. He started swinging his sword, but Ren ducked and punched Rekka in the leg, shocking him. Rekka smiled, even though he was in pain. He was enjoying the battle. Ren noticed the sinister smile and jumped back.
-I won’t hold back now, REN-SAN! – Shouted Rekka – Finally, some FUN!
-He’s a whole another person while fighting! – Everybody thought.
Rekka jumped forwards and swung his sword, creating fireballs. They all aimed towards Ren. Ren started Running away, but Rekka followed. He started creating thin waves of fire from his swings. Even for Rens speed, it was hard for him to dodge. He suddenly stopped and tried to punch Rekka, but Rekka dodged and hit him with the sword, knocking him away. He started bombarding Ren with fireballs. Some of them hit and Ren fell down. He was about to stand up, when a shadow of Rekka covered him. He was about to split his head with his sword, but before his eyes turned red, he snapped back and stopped mid swing. He made the sword disappear and lent a hand for Ren to stand up. Terrified Ren looked over at Rekka.
-Who was he? That wasn’t him… The skill gap between us… I’m Golden too. – Ren was demoralized.
The crowd was amazed. They were quiet, but suddenly burst into cheers for Rekka.
-Thank you. – Rekka awkwardly responded.
Ren returned to the student.
-A total defeat. – Said Ichika, but Ren didn’t respond.
After that, they had a few sparring rounds, lessons and the academy was over. Rekka packed his books, said goodbye to everyone and headed towards the academy exit. On the way, he met his friends. Rekka ran to them.
-How was your first day? – He asked.
-It was tiring. – Responded Kaito and Maeko.
-It was cool. – Said Sora – You had your grand debut, right?
-Huh? – Rekka was confused.
-Your grand battle with Ren Tanaka. You were victorious and everyone is talking about it. How a first year defeated a Golden.
-Oh. – Rekka didn’t respond.
They started walking home, chatting about school and their future. Suddenly, Ren jumped over out of nowhere and bowed on his kneels.
-Rekka-sama, become my master! - He put his head on the ground.
-What? – Rekka and his friends gasped.
*Meanwhile*
Jetos ran back in the dark forest. He was shirtless, wearing only dungeon trousers. He was wanted in the whole continent, and didn’t want to get caught. He was hunting for food.
-I’m close to her. – He said – I won’t forgive her for what she has done to me. I WILL, get my revenge.
