He looked around. Only hellish fire surrounded the area. The houses around were burning to crisp. A man with red skin was standing in the middle. He turned around with a wicked smile, showing his sharp teeth with red canines. His eyes went ablaze and the fire started closing in on him. He was completely engulfed in flames.
Jetos opened his eyes.
-Every night the same. – He was sitting with his head leaning on his arm on the table – Please wait a little longer, until I fulfil my promise. It has been nearly 600 years. – He looked at his black earring on his right ear – You will pay for what you did.
*Meanwhile*
In was midnight. Rekka and the others found a place in the forest where they could set a camp. From the carriages, they took out food and water. They set fire to a campfire and began to cook it. No one was in the mood. They still couldn't fully acknowledge what was going on. Rekka was sitting near the campfire. Harumi sat beside him.
-Don't be sad. This all will be over soon. – She smiled – The elite guards will protect us.
Rekka didn't answer.
-If you're worried about your loved ones, we are too. Everyone is. – Harumi let out a tear – I pray that my family is safe. It's the first time something like this is happening. – She looked at her hands and clenched them – Believe in them. Believe that they will survive.
Rekka still didn't answer. Harumi looked over him and placed her arm on his shoulder. After a while, she left. The maids cooked the food. They all ate and went to sleep. Some of them were on lookout for monsters.
Whitebolt was running away. Bebels and Death Bats were chasing him. While running he turned around and created a bow and arrow.
-Take this! – He shouted.
Duster put back his gloves on. Behind him were piles of dust. The city was cleared out of monsters.
-As long as the royal family is safe, the country will live on. – He said in a tired voice and disappeared in thin air as moonlight shined on his dust.
More than the half of the city was destroyed and the population was halved. Survivors came out of their hide out. Maeko, Kaito and Sora came out outside too.
-Is it safe? – Asked Sora.
-No monsters are left, so I think yes. – Answered Kaito.
-Quickly, let's return to our homes! – Said Sora.
They walked through the demolished city. Corpses of humans outnumbered corpses of dead monsters. Maeko threw up at the sigh and the boys were sick. They were carefully proceeding because of the broken debris.
-Do you think Rekka is okay? – Asked Kaito.
-He is strong. He will be. – Confidently answered Sora.
They saw a couple survivors. Most of them were badly injured. They all returned home. Sora and Maeko hugged their parents with love. Kaito fell on his knees. Leftover of his parents were spread out in his wrecked house. He screamed in agony and cried tears of agony.
The portals appeared in the whole continent. Some of the countries quickly dealt with them, while others got destroyed. There was one major problem. The monsters weren't stopping. They kept coming and coming. In only a couple of days, the quarter of population of Sigil was dead and half of the survivors were injured. Elite guards and adventurers were dispatched to protect the main cities and survivor camps.
Daichi was on a boat in the Pantarian ocean with his son and wife. They managed to survive the attack and escape. Needle was in his bar, killing any monster that approached him.
