Chapter 18: Realization

They inspected Rekka day and night, but couldn't find anything wrong. His blood was normal; skin was normal, reactions to stimulations were normal.

-THERES NOTHING – The main scientist got mad and threw utensils off the table – He is perfectly healthy, BUT WHAT WAS THAT POWER EARLIER!?

The scientists got exhausted, tied the boy to the bed and left. In the middle of the night, after two days of straight sleep, Rekka woke up, thirsty and hungry. His head was aching and tried to get up, but got tied town. He thought this place was familiar.

-Dad! Akio! Hina onee-san! Help me! – He screamed.

Guards protecting the anomaly boy heard him pleading for help. They debated, whenever to go in or not and decided to help him. They went in the dark room with the tied boy. Rekka noticed them:

-Who are you people? Where am I and where's my family!

The guards thought he was asking about his blood family.

-Your family has been missing for years now. After the forest fire incident at Road 8, the Asahis are yet to be found. Actually, we found Mike in Oxwood a long time ago, but he was traumatized and refused to give information. – Said one guard.

Rekka was shocked and got pale.

-What do you m-mean? Which f-forest fire? M-my family is on a trip-p! Where is A-Akio?

-We have not had contact with Akio after the incident as well. There were rumors that he took you with him and ran away, but there is no proof!

Rekka got even more terrified.

-What d-do you m-mean! I was in Tow w-with Akio until...

His head started to hurt and he screamed: "AGH! NOT AGAIN!"

Scientists on night shift quickly rushed to him after hearing a loud scream. They gave him painkillers and fed him. After Rekka calmed down, he told them:

-I lived with Akio and his family for years! I can take you there, to city of Tow and show you people that he is there!

Guards and scientists nodded and went out of the room. The next day, they asked the higher-ups for permission to go to Tow with Rekka, because of his information, Akio was living there. The higher-ups, after debating for a while agreed, but the boy had to be accompanied with twenty guards, scientists and a Tier 6 adventurer. After two days, they found a Tier 6 adventurer and started heading towards Tow. In the meantime, they were still inspecting Rekka, with professor Souta this time; however, they still could not find anything off. When they got there, Rekka started leading them to the Haruki household.

-Were here! This is where I stayed for years! – Said Rekka with confidence.

Guards knocked on the door, but when nobody answered, they broke down the door. Rekka rushed inside, screaming Haruki's names but it was quiet, too quiet. They inspected the whole house but could not find anything other than some burn marks. The house was completely empty. Rekka got devastated. He fell on his knees and started to cry his heart out.

-WHERE IS EVERYONE! – He screamed ah he continued to cry.

Professor Souta got near to the boy, knocking the guards down.

-THAT IS IT! – He punched Rekka. – I HAD ENOUGH OF YOU BRAT! – He punched him again as hard as he could, knocking his teeth out and breaking his nose. – YOU BROKE MY FACE, RUINED MY CAREER AND WASTED MY TIME!

Before he could punch him again, the adventurer rushed to the boy's aid and stopped the mad scientist.

-HUH? WHO ARE YOU? – Screamed Souta. – YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS, GO AWAY!

-I'm afraid I can't. – Said the adventurer and knocked Souta out with a hit in the neck. – Quickly, come and save the boy!

Scientists rushed to the beat up boy and saw his face was broken. They quickly got bandages and medicine. The boy was out cold.
