Chapter 85: Entrance Exam Stage II

-I know you children may think that sparring will be dangerous. – Said the man on the stage – But do not fret. Resistance magic will be put on everyone, so no one will get injured. – His voice got serious – We are trying to pick the best. Only those with good battle sense will pass.
-Isn’t this too harsh? – Thought Rekka and others.
The twins and the children present were startled and nervous. Some of them didn’t even fought once in their life. Rekka was scared.
-This will be too unfair. – He looked at his hands and clenched them – No matter what, I will still pass. – Looking up in the shy with determination, he said - Even if I have to get my hands dirty.
-I will now start explaining. – Said the man on the stage – We will move to the academy arena. There, the teams will take the entrance A or B. In will be 21 V.S 21 groups.
The kids started discussing which entrance they would take.
-From there on out, the groups will decide members to take on the arena. Your each group will choose three participants. This stage is all about strategy, teamwork and fighting skills. I wish good luck to everyone!
-Let’s go to entrance A. – Said Rekka, and others quickly followed.
The arena was full of kids discussing their strategies.
-Wait. – Thought Rekka – Who decides to go out for battle?
-We need a leader I suppose. – Said Mari.
-Maybe I will be. – Said Mira and made a funny pose.
The kids giggled. Suddenly, their gaze turned onto one kid. He was wearing fancy blue and white elite clothes, but also had silver hair. He had a beautiful face. He found a high place and walked on it.
-Everyone, please pay attention. – He had a beautiful voice. Everyone looked at him – My name is Akisuke Fuji. I’m from the prestigious Fuji family. – He made dramatic moves – For my whole life, I have been training to become an elite guard. And, my work will bare it’s fruit. I have 3000 PL. I may think it’s arrogant, but I’m the strongest one here. May I take the role of a leader? I swear I won’t betray you all.
Rekka chucked after hearing his mighty speech. The Fuji family is one of the richest families in Nissel. Even the kids knew who they were. They quickly gave Akisuke the role of a leader.
-The leader should’ve been you Rekka. – Said Kaito.
-I think so too. – Maeko nodded her head.
-Why? – Asked the twins.
Maeko smiled and said:
-You will see.
Akisuke came down from the “stage”.
-Let’s start thinking about the participants.
-Let me go! – Yelled one kid.
-No, me! – Yelled another.
-What did you say? - The boy got mad.
A fight was about to break, but Akisuke stopped it. With a serious tone, he said.
-If I fail because of you people. – He didn’t finish the sentence. He had a menacing gaze.
The kids calmed down.
-You have five minutes left! – They heard a loud noise from the arena.
They quickly chose three people and left. Akisuke was one of them. The arena gates opened. Mages were standing near them. They put their staffs on children which gave them resistances.
-Listen warriors! – It was the same man from earlier on the entrance stage – One man from each team shall move forward and fight the opponent. Everyone needs to participate. Since all you have resistances, the first person to give up loses. Let the battle begin!
-Let me go on first. – Said Akisuke and moved forward.
The arena was massive. From the other side of the arena, another kid moved with a grin.
-Let the battle begin! – Shouted the man.
The kid on the other side started charging forwards. Akisuke slowly walked up to him.
-Your dead meat! – Shouted the kid and jumped up.
He tried to punch Akisuke. Akisuke looked up with a serious face. He dodged the incoming punch and with the sweep of his leg, made the kid fall. With his elbow, he then hit him on the back. The kid fell on the ground. He was angry and tried to stand up, but got kicked in the stomach and rolled back. He wasn’t able to stand anymore. Akisuke bowed to his fallen foe.
-He has potential. – Thought the man on the arena – Winners may walk up the arena and watch the whole event! – He shouted.
Akisuke tried to help the kid stand up, but the kid slapped his hand and walked out. The other children were astonished at Akisukes strength. They were happy that they didn’t fight him.
-He is really strong! Right Rekka? – Said Mari.
Rekka just shrugged his shoulders. The twins were confused. Team A was left without a leader. They decided to just take turns.
-Hey red head, you’re last! – Said one kid pointing at Rekka and giggled.
-Me? – Said Rekka – Fine by me.
-Hey big guy, you’re next!
Kaito walked up. He was the last to fight out of the three. Both of his teammates lost, and he was up next. He walked up and observed his opponent. It was a girl in a dress.
-I can’t fight a girl! – He thought.
Katios opponent was determined. She quickly started running at him and throwing kicks.
-I can see it! Is she stupid? – Thought Kaito with a red face.
He dodged every incoming attacks. He knew it had to over soon. He dodged a kick, lightly pushed her away and made her fall. He then pinned her down.
-Let me go! – Shouted the girl.
-We have a winner! – Said the man on the stage.
Kaito let go, apologized and sat down in the arena. The battled continued. The twins were up next. In their fight, they used their claws and scared their enemy’s off. When Mira fought, she would’ve cut someone’s arm off if not for the resistance magic. Rekka was amazed at their strength.
-They only have 300 PL. I guess the people here are too weak.
The next round, on the opposing team was Sora. He had a menacing look while wearing a gray shirt. He was the first to move on and won his fight with one single punch in the face. He knocked out his enemy. Doctors ran to the passed out boy. The kids there were amazed.
-He is stronger than that white guy! – They thought.
This made Akisuke irritated, but he didn’t show anything, just watched. He was surprised when Sora sat down beside him.
-Hey. – Said Sora.
-Hello. Nice fight. – Kindly said Akisuke.
-Do you think you’re the strongest here? – Asked Sora.
Akisuke noticed he was being completely serous.
-To say the truth, I think I am. It may be a foolish thought, but that’s what I believe. – He smiled – I think I’m even stronger than you.
Sora giggled.
-Someone will prove you wrong. – He leaned back on the seat and closed his eyes.
-What does he mean by that? – Thought Akisuke – He is just saying nonsense.
Forty teams have passed. B has won 22 matches, and A won 18. They thought only Akisuke was strong on A. The last two teams were left. Rekka and Maeko walked out. Kid’s stared at Rekkas unique appearance. Some of them thought he looked cool. Rekka at that time was wearing a dark red shirt and black shorts. The third kid in their team walked out and lost without putting on a fight.
-I guess this is over for A.
-I knew we would lose from the start. – Thought some kids.
Maeko walked up.
-Good luck. – Said Rekka, and made a thumbs up.
Maeko made a kind smile. She walked up.
-What a cute girl like you is doing here? – Her opponent talked down on her.
Maeko didn’t answer. She charged at her opponent, and got ready for a punch.
-It’s over. – Thought Kaito, Sora and Rekka.
-Hit me with all of your strength, you can’t even hur…
The kid got blown away by Maeko punch. He started rolling back and even hit the wall behind him. Maeko proudly looked at him and walked up the arena. Her opponent couldn’t stand up. Everyone in the arena burst out laughing. Most of them were surprised at the little girls raw strength.
-Was he telling me about her? – Thought Akisuke.
-Another candidate. – Thought the man on the arena – Well kids this will be our last fight. Watch carefully!
-What pressure. – Rekka and walked up.
-Good luck! – Shouted the twins.
Some children from the arena evened cheered on, but it wasn’t for Rekka, it was for his opponent. The boy walked up to Rekka.
-Look. – Shyly said Rekka – I don’t want to hurt you, please give up.
This made the boy angry.
-Huh? What are you saying boy? Don’t take me lightly!
The kid started throwing punches. With barely any movement, Rekka walked back and dodged them.
-Please, don’t make me hurt you. – Rekka whispered.
This made the boy even irritated. He put his hands on the ground. Suddenly, small rocks came out of the ground, aiming at Rekka. Rekka jumped back.
-Whoa! – The crowd cheered on.
-Rekka, don’t hold back! Hit him with full strength! – Shouted Sora.
The kids went silent and looked at Sora.
-What does he mean? – Thought the twins and the other kids.
-Interesting. – Thought the man.
Akisuke was intrigued. Rekka smiled.
-This is for you, Sora! – He shouted.
-I won’t let you live brat! – Shouted Rekkas opponent.
Rekka giggled. He created his flame longsword and put it on his shoulder. The boy got scared. The crowd dropped their jaw. Rekka charged at his opponent with incredible speed. The boy got terrified, he tried to punch him, but Rekka disappeared from his plain of sight.
-Where did he go!? – Though the boy in despair.
Rekka kicked him from behind. He fell on the ground. When he opened his eyes, a sword was in front of him.
-I GIVE UP! I GIVE UP!
Rekka made the sword disappear. The crowd was speechless. They couldn’t say anything. Rekka’s friends smiled.
-KAITO, WAS REKKA ALWAYS THIS STRONG!? – Asked Mari.
-HE IS SO COOL! – Said Mira.
-Yeah. Since we know him, he has always been like that. – Kaito smiled.
The man from the stage was speechless too. Suddenly, from the arena, Akisuke jumped down.
-So you are the one he was talking about. – Said Akisuke – Please, fight me.
-What? – Rekka was confused.
