Chapter 16: Difference

Needle went to Highfalls in disguise. He had possessed a strong magic spell: Invisibility. It was easy to get inside anywhere for him. He went to the higher-ups castle, sneaked through the guards and barged to the main room. Higher-ups got scared to death.

-N-Needle! What b-brings you h-here! We already searched this p-place, but we haven't found the anomaly boy!

Needle smoked in the higher-ups face:

-Are you people... Really that dull? According to you guys information... The boy was taken by a guard...

-Y-yes! But we couldn't find h-him! – The higher-up got pale.

Needle sighed.

-Give me all of the information you have on the guard... This will take no more than a day or two.

He took all data about Akio and read it.

-From the Haruki family huh... Father was a guard and Mother passed away... He would have been too young to stay alone... Let's go check his relatives, shall we? That is the only place I can think of... for now.

Needles smiled and took out his blunt, heading to the city of Tow with excitement about the anomaly boy.

*Meanwhile in the fields*

Akio was testing out Rekkas fire resistance by putting him on fire. It had zero effect on the boy. Akio told the boy in a confident voice:

-You are strong Rekka, stronger than most of the guards and even me already! There is nothing more I can teach you. I can only give you tasks. When you turn 10, want to become an adventurer? – He giggled – Imagine how shocked the guild will be when a young boy joins them with strong magic.

Rekka laughed too and they started playing and joking together.

*Present time*

Needle got to Tow, without dropping a sweat. He walked through the city with invisibility. He saw how lively it was there.

-I should come here more often – He thought to himself.

After roaming around for a while, he noticed Akio and a boy with a long cloak. He was invisible, so he got near the camouflaged and saw him... It was Rekka. Needle got astonished about how he looked. He has never seen a human, even a demi human with those traits. He wanted to take him right there, but could not. Before he left them, he intentionally put his hand on the boys shoulder. Rekka got startled and looked around, but when he saw no one, he got confused.

-What's the matter? – Asked Akio.

-Oh, it's nothing – Said Rekka and brushed off the incident.

Needle got to Haruki household, seeing if Akio was staying there. He saw a family of three. He got inside by the open window, inspected everything around, and soon saw little kids clothing.

-I guess... my hunch was right. – Said Needle and removed the invisibility spell.

A young woman went into the room to change clothes and was greeted by a man with black clothes and a torn red cape. Before she could even scream, she fell down. Parents got up when they heard a noise and saw Hina lying on the floor unconscious with a man in black stepping on her. Kiyoshi got furious and attacked him, while Sara ran away to ask for help. Suddenly two needles flew by Kiyoshi and hit Sara, knocking her down too. He looked behind and saw his wife dead. He got devastated. His vision started to get blurry and he said in his dying breath:

-Hina... Sara... Akio... Rekka... I don't want to go...

Needle then burned the bodies, clothes, everything and went outside, not leaving a single trace of him, or the family even living there.

Needle got back on track and started to search for Rekka.

-He would not take the boy outside without a reason in this situation... They won't be inside the city grounds.

He went outside the city into the vast fields. After walking for a while, he saw remnants of dead monsters.

-He was busy huh... I'm getting close to him.

Needle stopped smoking and got serious. He dashed hundreds of meters in mere seconds while being invisible to not be caught. He got near to them and saw Rekka killing monsters, while Akio was sitting under a tree. He didn't waste any time and dashed quickly to Rekka, punching him and knocking him far away.

-Rekka! – Screamed Akio as he ran to him. – What happened!? I didn't see anyone get close! – He thought to himself.

Akio got to the boy and saw that he was unconscious. He started to shake him, trying to wake him up. Even pouring water on his face. He started to hear footsteps behind and turned around angry. He saw the man approaching him slowly.

-YOU! DID YOU DO THIS TO HIM? – He screamed.

Needle didn't say anything, just quietly giggled. Akio could not control himself and attacked the man, trying to punch it with strength magic. The man disappeared from his sight and suddenly his vision darkened and passed out. Rekka woke up from the screams and saw Akio on the ground with the man standing behind him. The crying boy rushed to his father, weakened.

-Dad! Dad! Wake up Akio! – He looked up – You! Help me please! He isn't breathing!

Needle laughed and put his hand above Akios dead body, turning it into ash. Rekka looked at his hands, seeing his father's remnants scattering away by the wind.

-You are coming with me boy. – Said Needle and put his hand on Rekkas shoulder.

He quickly took it back and got confused, his hand was burnt. All of a sudden, the air around got hot and a heavy aura formed around the boy.

-Oh? Guess this won't be that easy. – Said Needle and smiled.

The boy turned around, his eyes bright red. His teeth were showing in his dead smile and his nails started glowing. Symbols appeared on the palms of his hands. Needle got in position, excited about the upcoming fight.

-HAH! I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS! A DEMON INSIDE A YOUNG INNOCENT BOY HUH!

Rekka threw a beam of fire from his hands. Needle narrowly dodged, getting his cape burnt in the fire. He threw needles at the boy, but Rekka melted them. The demon boy started throwing massive fireballs at Needle. He was moving faster than the eyes could see, but Rekka could still follow his movements. Needle went on the offensive. He suddenly appeared in front of him, took out his dagger and tried to cut the boys throat, but before it got near him, the dagger melted and melted iron poured on Needles hand, severely burning it.

-AGH! If not for fire resistance, I already would've been dead!

The fight continued, with Needle on the defensive and Demon Rekka on the offensive. The fields around them burned in hells fire as Rekka continued to throw fireballs and fire beams.

-This is LVL 6 Fire magic, no, it is LVL 7! – He thought to himself.

Suddenly, Rekka collapsed. Needle got confused and started to slowly approach him, but the air around got even hotter and the boy stood up. His eyes were starting to get black and another symbol started to appear on his forehead.

-Well, before it gets out of hand... I think it's time we finished here. – Said Needle in a calm voice.

Rekka put his arms in the air and started to create a giant fireball in his hands, aiming at the man in front of him. In a flash, Needle disappeared. Demon got confused and he suddenly got knocked out. The man turned invisible and got behind the boy, penetrating Rekkas back with multiple needles. He caught the falling boy in his arms.

-I need to take you back alive... You are an interesting fellow; put up a nice... was it even a fight?

The battle was over before it even began, the gap in skill was that big.
