Kira stilled her trembling fingers and opened the front door. It had been left unlocked to allow Crew Cut and Shaved Head access inside. She opened it slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible, desperately hoping no one was waiting for her on the other side. What if someone had heard the fighting and had come to investigate?
It’s a big house. Maybe no one heard anything.
The door opened, revealing a front entryway. It was empty. The area was lit from overhead, but the rest of the main floor was shrouded in darkness, at least as far as Kira could tell. She swallowed, forcing herself not to look back before stepping inside.
