CHAPTER ONE

HER POV My entire body trembled when the glass plate shattered beneath me. The way he tortured, battered and shot the man; splattering his brains on the floor sent shivers down my spine. I would be next. That is undeniably true. If I wasn't careful, it'd be my blood the next time. What've I done? I should have disagreed and run away while I had the chance. That chapter of my life was closed and I don't want to go down that road again. But I just couldn't. If I did that, I would lose her. "Ada-rosa, are you ok?" Bibi, the elderly cook asked, her eyes filled with compassion. I nodded and gave a thin smile. "Yes, I am" No, I wasn't. This was silly and idiotic. Why did I get dragged into this mess in the first place? Heavens, please help me for I have just arranged a dance with the devil. HIS POV Dom said, "Sorry, boss, but they shot every driver on board and hacked the account." "s**t!" I slammed my fists into the table, causing the surface to shudder. "That bastard!" Dom didn't flinch; instead, he continued, his eyes fixed on mine. "There's a banker who helped them. Peter Stark. If you want us to—" "No." I said in a low, controlled voice, but the anger still burned in my gut, "Don't kill him," I said, running my hand through my hair in frustration. He knew what I was capable of, and he knew my decisions weren’t always about what was right, but about what would serve me best. But this wasn't the time, I needed strategic plans… ASAP! “I’ll get back to you,” I said sharply, “Leave me alone for now.” I was left alone in the quiet of my office, leaving me to my own thoughts. This was bullshit! Matteo Santoro, I will kill you even if this is the last thing I do. “Is anything the problem?” Isabella walked out of the bathroom. How long has she been there? “No,” I waved her off, “everything is fine” Isabella Russo is the daughter ofEnzo Russo, my business partner. The relationship that began as a one-night stand lasted for almost a year. I hated commitments for someone like me, it wasn't an option either. It would become too complicated. Bella hasn't asked for more than I can provide for the past eight months, so I kept her.. For me in particular, it was a convenient deal. “Well you look…” she loosened her red robe, revealing her naked form, “deep in thought” Now this is the distraction any man needs. If there was anything that would make me feel relaxed now, it's 8a.m s*x. I smiled, “Come here, cara mia,”
