Nox carried me up to the second floor, down the corridor, and set me down on my feet at the bottom of a narrow spiral staircase just past the beta suite. He took my hand and interlocked our fingers, brought them to his lips and pressed kisses on each of my captured digits before winking and nodding for me to follow.
As if I have a choice, I mused internally as I climbed the steps behind him. Nox was so eager, he was practically dragging me up the steps. I was certain that if that winding stairs hadn’t been so narrow, he would have lugged me the rest of the way. Hell, I’m surprised he didn’t toss me over his shoulder instead.
