Yesi Nox and I stood in relative silence following Leon’s abrupt exit. It was a little awkward, to be honest, but I was far too exhausted to care. One of my hands flew to my mouth as I tried to halt a yawn. He noticed; Nox eased closer, his movements slow and deliberate as his stony grey eyes peered into mine. I maintained eye contact until he caressed my cheek, sending tingles shooting down my body. I felt my muscles relax as I shut my eyes to the world. His every gesture expressed a gentle side of him, as if he thought I might crack with the tiniest amount of force. He kissed my forehead, sending another bout of electricity coursing through me. “Tired?” he asked, his breath tickling my skin.
