The venue that Casey and Kam booked was a beautiful place that had an outside garden and was all included even an open bar. Kam knew the owner of the location so they got a killer deal on it. Casey also was very creative and so was Jake in his ability to create accent pieces Casey had requested. The ceremony was to take place outside and the reception inside. I was so proud of my sister and Kam for how hard they had worked on this wedding and I couldn't wait to finally see her in her dress with the finishing touches of her hair and makeup. I knew she was going to look like a damn princess.
It was show time-all the bridesmaids had arrived and we began to take before gown and after gown pictures. We did very simple and elegant ones and funny crazy ones. Kelsey kept watching Casey and I could see the tears forming in her eyes. I handed her a small tissue.
"You are going to ruin your make up." I teased
"I can't help it. She looks so beautiful."
"I know she does."
"That dress is killer."
"I know that also."
It was almost time for the ceremony to begin and we all took our places in line to walk. Jake was in his tux and mom in her royal purple outfit. It was weird to see them so dressed up and formal, but they looked great. Again Jake looked as if he was going to cry once he saw Casey in her dress for the first time. My mom as well.
"You look stunning sweetheart." Said Jake
"Oh my god Casey you look absolutely breath taking." My mom gave her kiss.
I was so happy for my sister that I was smiling and was trying to keep a focus mind for this. For her.
The music we were walking down to began to play Ed Sheeran-Thinking Out Loud and it started. One by one we all went to down the aisle and stood at our spots. I waited for Casey and Jake to come down the aisle soon the song changed to Kina Grannie-Can't Help Falling in Love.
The ceremony was simple and the officiant was funny and made the crowd laugh. Finally he announced
"You may now kiss the bride." And everyone erupted in a cheer and some even hollered.
The rest of the guest made their way to the reception area and the rest of us stayed behind to take pictures. I was standing next to Casey and Kelsey behind me when a voice of whiskey and ice came into my head.
"You look beautiful."
I went stone cold.
"Emma are you alright?" Asked Kelsey
"I'm fine." I tried to play it off, but it was hard to concentrate.
After a million pictures we all headed into the reception hall and they announced the bride and groom. I was finally somewhat free of my duties and found Emily, Dustin, and Hawkeye. Emily had a drink in her hand.
"What is this?" I asked
"Um cranberry and vodka."
I downed it in one gulp and stood watching as the DJ began to play the couples first song.
A Thousand Years by Christina Perri
Casey had always been a 'Twilight' fan. After a verse or two the DJ offered others to join in a couples dance and I watch as my mom and Jake came together and Kelsey nudging Evan to take her out on the dance floor. Even Emily and Dustin."
I stood there and Hawkeye came up behind me.
"Come on we should probably dance." He said usher me to the dance floor.
He took my hand into his and we began to dance with every other couple on the floor. Again the voice inside my head.
"I owe you a dance."
I closed my eyes and tried to hold back the tears-I think the cranberry and vodka was hitting me.
"Em? You ok" Asked Hawkeye
"Yeah I'm ok. We should go get shots after this."
"I very much agree."
I looked at Kelsey with Evan, my parents, and Emily with Dustin.
"Do you think she will ever give him a chance?" I asked Hawkeye as we continued to dance
"Probably not, but he keeps on trying so there has to been something there."
"I think everyone is deserving of love."
Hawkeye smiled, "Someone is in the wedding mood."
"I suppose." I smiled back
The song had finished and we returned to our seats and waited until the father daughter and mother son dance had been completed before we all ran to the open bar. Shots-chaser-shots-chaser-dancing-food to sober up on and repeat. We danced and celebrated all night. Casey threw the second bouquet and one of our cousins got it, she was screaming because she had been hounding her boyfriend for years to pop the question. Casey didn't have cake because Kam wasn't much of a fan, but they had a donut wall which I thought was pretty clever. The night ended with all the guest having sparklers and making a path for the couple to walk by and go on their married way. I hugged Casey hard, "I love you sister." I told her and I saw tears form in her eyes.
"Oh my god I for got my bouquet."
"Don't worry I'll go get it." I told her
"Thank you, I'll see you when we get back. Take care of yourself Emma." And off she went with Kam on their honeymoon.
I gave her one last hug and drifted off away from the crowd back to the reception hall where the clean up crew was already getting started. I went over to the table and found Casey's bouquet. It was a beautiful arrangement made with all kinds of different followers of neutral colors. I put my nose to it and could smell the fragrance it had.
The voice in my head, "Emma,"
I turned around looking for him, but he wasn't there.
"Emma," He called again, but the sound came from the open door that lead to the gardens.
The gardens were lit up with pretty twinkle lights and paths that made a labyrinth around the whole area. I could hear my name be called and the voice calling it was getting louder. I followed it and wondered around searching for him.
"Where are you? Why are you hiding?!" I yelled back at him.
I was becoming angry and impatient. He was confusing me and I was trying my best to understand everything, but I was growing tired of the games. Through the garden paths I went in search of Ares, but the voice led me to a giant fountain. I was hesitant at first before I proceeded toward it giving the area once over. I was trained to be cautious and always be on my guard. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, except there was something sitting on the fountain. Again I was cautious about whatever it was waiting for me as if someone had planted it there for me to find it.
I crept closer and saw a book, but not just any book. My missing diary. I looked down at it and inspected it. How familiar it looked. It was a rich leather with my initials engraved in the front. As I had predicated the diary was locked, but I had the key in the box of belongs my mom kept for me.
I grabbed it and could feel all the emotion and power it possessed. I held it close to my chest and closed my eyes. I could feel his presence and imagined what he would look like and felt like again.
I turned around to leave because I knew if I didn't someone, specifically Kelsey, would be looking for me. I stopped mid way, "I'm sick and tired of these games you play Ares. I want the truth, but don't except me to read this on your time."
I left the fountain area taking the diary with me and returned back to my family and friends.
