Charles' POV:
I couldn't think properly. When I close my eyes, all I see is Vanessa's life in danger. When I try to shut my ears from anything, all I hear is what the doctor said about her.
My mind was clouded with the pain of losing her later to insanity, tightening my chest so much that it suddenly made it hard to breathe. The room was stuffy and uncomfortable.
There was suddenly not enough air in it. I strode to the window and let it open, taking in a deep breath and releasing it afterwards. Finally, some fresh air, but my chest still felt tightened, threatening to squeeze my lungs out.
