Vanessa's POV:
I slowly opened my eyes, and quickly adjusted to the rays of light bursting through the window. I didn't know how long I slept, but I got the rest I needed.
I turned over and rubbed the back of my neck when, suddenly, I remembered a voice I heard. I was certain Charles was beside me, and he spoke to me, but I couldn't remember our conversation clearly.
I climbed down the bed and rushed out, heading for his room. The servant I met coming out of it said he wasn't in and had stepped out in the morning.
I missed him so much. I let out a deep breath and turned to leave, but fortunately, he was standing right in front of me.
"My sweet woman," he called, but before he could say anything else, I covered the space between us and hugged him as tight as I could.
