Chapter 6
Vanessa's POV:
I stare, more like glare at my step-sister who was also shooting me death glares. If looks could kill, I will surely be six, no scratch that, ten feet under.
"I don't know anything about them and that's the truth! If you want to know them better why don't you go ahead and ask them?!" I yell.
A resounding slap makes my head reel. I legit hear sirens in my ear and I shake my head to get rid of the buzz.
She leans downward, with a sneer on her face as she stuck a finger right before my eyes. I had to c**k my head so that her hands didn't get in. "You're a prisoner here, you will accord me the respect I deserve. I'll ask ONE. MORE. TIME." She shoots me a sinister grin.
"What the hell do you know about lycans? Why did the Lycan king come to save you?!"
My head reels with the amount of noise that she's making.
I stare her down. "Your breath stinks, wash it when you're ready to talk to me." I spat.
She is about to slap me again when Nate grabs her arm. "Let the wench go, it's not yet time to kill her." He interrupts.
I stare at him in annoyance. He is the last person who I think should be involved in this. I laugh quietly before it turns into a louder rumble, surprising all of us. "You of all people! How come I was stupid to date you? I should have known. When both of you had hushed conversations, pretending that it was about me. I should have known that you were wicked fellows. Anyways, you're not in luck, so..."
Nate's nostrils flare with anger and his jaw clenches which I hope doesn't break from how hard it is clenched. "You must! Who ever loved your spoilt ass."
I chuckle at his inference, "Oh, really... You want to call me a spoilt brat? Of all people to talk? You? I blame myself for ever being deceived by you. You're nothing but a raging ball of stupidity waiting to explode. My arms are tired of bearing your excesses. If you will, go ahead and challenge the Lycans, you sod."
He wraps his hand around my throat and has me in a chokehold, his muscles bulging as he continues choking me
I try to slap his arms off but he has a firmer grip on me. "You're a piece of s**t and I will have pleasure in getting you out of the way. I should have done this before you festered like a wound." He thunders.
If I ever make it alive, I am sure of one thing, I am going to be deaf. There is no escaping that.
I look to the side and see Jenny smiling sinisterly. "Didn't you say that we should let her be?"
"I did say so but now I'm reconsidering. She needs to be taught a lesson." He snarls.
At this point, I am beginning to feel my soul leaving my body and I wonder what I could have ever done in my past life to be rewarded with such people. This is nothing but balderdash!
I didn't feel unnecessarily moved by their expressions because I knew that they were going to kill me nonetheless.
After a while of struggling against his grip, I begin to see white dots, I am dying but there is no one to save me.
"She's dying, Nate, we don't want her to die yet. She's still useful." Jenny says.
Her voice sounds like the gathering of clouds. Nate seems to reason with her and finally lets me go not without sneering at me.
I cough and rub my sore throat, it was like an inferno, threatening to consume me. "I am not going to repeat my question. Who are you to the Lycans?"
"I am Chuck's mate. You heard him state that."
They glance at each other leaving with me a worry marring my face. "I won't believe that. How can you just go from being mated to me to being his mate?"
I don't even have the energy to roll my eyes because it was making me worry too much. I stare at them, they were birds of a feather. " I don't know what you want from me but I don't have it."
They stare at each other again, a look of understanding passing through their eyes as Jenny turns to me. "You're quite mouthy huh? Let's see how you survive this."
Survive what?!
I hear a cracking sound and see Nate flexing his muscles, rolling his arm like he is about to fight.
Jenny shoots him a saccharine grin. "Finish her off, she is not worth your time."
Nate advances toward me and I stare at him in horror, crawling backward as he reaches for a sword close to the other end and turns back at me giving me a devilish smile. "I wonder how your father would feel when he sees you in heaven today. He would be so pleased that his beloved daughter is returning to him. Now all of you can be reunited."
I watch in horror as Jenny also brings out a small vial from her pockets. My eyes dart in all the directions seeking a means of escape. This isn't going to end well.
"There's no need to run, darling." Nate says in a singsong voice.
I can't scream because my throat hurts like hell. I think that was part of the plan.
"You don't need to fret. You're only meeting the goddess sooner than later."
I look skyward, "I need help, Goddess help me." I whisper a prayer.
"Oh, no. She's praying for salvation." Jenny mocks me.
"I am not sorry about what is about to happen to you, darling... I'm sad that I didn't dare to do this earlier. I'm wasting my time instead of..."
A loud growl echoes in the forest cutting him off.
"s**t!" He whispers.
