After lunch, I take Mack’s hand and lead him upstairs before doing something I should’ve done long before now. I tell him what’s going on. “Your father is the main reason.” Sitting beside me with his back flush against the wall of the nursery, I feel Mack glance over at me. “For you staying with Adela?” I nod, keeping my gaze fixed on the cradle in front of us. Most of the pack didn’t come over for lunch, which isn’t all that unusual since they can’t make it for every meal.
