Ell’s P.O.V.
“How long have they’ve been gone now?” I asked Sam as she braided my hair into a high ponytail.
Samara shrugged. “I think it’s been a whole week now. The Harvest Moon is in two days. I hope they get back soon so we can spend some time with them before…”
She paused and I felt her uneasiness. “Sam, are you sick again? I really think we should take you to the pack doctor.”
“No, Ell. Between me having intense heat flashes and your dizzy spells, I’m afraid they won’t let us participate in the rouge defense. I’ll go to the pack doctor when the attack is over.” Sam said leaning forward to place kisses to the side of my neck.
I let out a moan, lifting my hand to run my hand through her hair.
The Kings and Jack left on a tip to Canada to try and find the hide out of the rouges, and they’ve been gone for seven days now. Over the past three days though, Sam has been having really bad heat flashes. Some get to the point of me frantically running around to try and get her some cold water or ice. Me, I’m fine. I get dizzy when I stand up too fast or bend over, but I’m sure it’s because I’m worrying over all my mates and partners. Samara acts like she’s fine, but I can see the flashes burning her up. I desperately wanted her to go to the doctor with me, but without the support of the Alpha’s she didn’t budge. Now I was waiting on them to get home so I can practically snitch on her and have them force her to go to the doctors with me.
Wulfkin don’t get sick often. That’s why I was so worried. We got something called Feral Fever, it’s like Scarlet Fever for the humans, but this was for wolves and it was very contagious. It started out with night sweats, then goes on from there to a fever, hot flashes, fainting spells, fatigue, loss of appetite, and then finally a coma. It frightened me to think Sam could be sick with Feral Fever, and I was the only one here to take care of her.
“Sam…stop distracting me with your love. It’s not going to work this time.” I said giggling.
She huffed. “Come now, pretty girl. Let’s go check on the pack.”
I nodded, pushing myself to my feet. My vision went instantly black and I felt my legs give out. “Sam!”
Before I hit the ground, Samara caught me by the hips. She cuddled me against her chest for a few moments. “Are you okay, Ell?”
After taking a few deep breaths, I nodded. “Yeah, I’m okay.”
She smiled to me, placing a few light kisses to my lips. “I’m going to go grab you some orange juice to take with us.”
When she was gone I decided to link someone that might help me. Maybe I can trick Sam into going with me? Or make it seem like I wasn’t tricking her into seeing the doctor?
(Luna Makah?) I called out, hoping I was able to connect with her.
(Ell? Is that you?) She answered after a few seconds.
I smiled, it worked! (I only have a few moments before Samara gets back. There is something wrong with us, and I’m unsure…If we have Feral Fever. We’re supposed to make the rounds and check on the pack, and I’ve been trying to get Sam to come with me to the doctor, but she won’t go. Do you think there is a way for the pack doctor to intercept us? I am really worried.)
Makah let out a slow breath. Feral Fever was nothing to play around about. (I’ll think of something, have her start out on the east side of the village. It’s the closest to the clinic.)
(Thank you, Makah.)
(No problem, my dear daughter-in-law.) She said before cutting the link.
Makah has been calling me that since she saw Ranger kissing me one day. I guess I was. Sort of. The weeks have been packed with training, prepping, and plans. We haven’t gotten much together time. By that, I mean none of us had been able to sleep with each other since we bonded together. Well, besides me and Sam. It’s been frustrating not having a knot for so long.
“There’s my pretty girl.”
I smiled over to Samara. She was a goddess in her own right. I never thought I could have someone like her in my life. Together with Jack and the triplets…I’ve never felt so complete before. I would fall apart if I lost just one of them.
“My beautiful Queen.” I cooed back to her.
She handed me a bottle filled with orange liquid. “Let’s go.”
“Can we start at the east side of the village? The gardens are over there and I was hoping the strawberries were ready.” I said with a wink.
Samara wrapped her arm around my waist, leaning in to nuzzle her nose into my cheek. “Anything for you.”
“Queen Samara! Princess Ell!”
We smiled at a group of pups running for us. While Dorian was still salty over our relationship, the rest of the pack welcomed me and Jack as if we were always with their Kings and Queen. They even started calling me Princess. Jack retained his Master Chief title.
I leaned down to hug a few of the kids, when I went to stand up though I lost sight and felt myself slam into the dirt.
“Ell!” Samara was at my side picking me up out of the dirt.
I felt her holding me. “I’m okay, Sam.”
“Princess Ell? Are you alright? It’s my fault you fell.” One of the little girls asked as tears streamed down her face.
I shook my head. “No, baby. It wasn’t you, I just got a little off-balance. That’s it. It was worth it for that amazing hug you gave me.”
“Queen Samara! What’s wrong with, Christelle?”
I recognized that voice, it was the pack doctor Giovanna.
I held up a hand. “It’s just Ell, Doc.”
“Let’s get you up and to the clinic.” Giovanna said and I felt her hand under my arm as my vision came back.
A loud snarl echoed into my ear and what I saw made me groan. Sam had Giovanna’s arm in her grasp. “Don’t touch her like that. Be gentle.”
Giovanna nodded. “Yes, Luna Queen. I have her best interests at heart. I love the Kings, I love my Queen, I love the Princess, and my Master Chief that keeps us all safe. I promise, I just want to help.”
Sam sighed. “I’m sorry…She’s been doing this so often now…I don’t know what to do.”
“Let’s go to the clinic and we’ll find out what’s wrong.” Giovanna said with a warm smile.
I felt Samara tense, but she listened and we followed the doc to the clinic
