Aimscious and Mart returned to Sofia's ward with a worried look. She stood by her mother's bed, held her hand and forced a smile.
" How are you feeling now mum...? "she asked.
" Am better now", Sofia replied patting her hand with a smile .
" The doctor said you will be discharged in few hours so we will be leaving in a while ", Aimscious uttered a bit worried.
Sofia looked at her daughter's face and beamed with a smile.
" Alright dear, cheer up, am fine ", she hugged her.
Aimscious laid her head over her mother's shoulder with tears rolling down her face, hiding her tears from her.
" Can't lose you too mother" , she whispered under her breath.
After some hours, Sofia was discharged. Mart and Aimscious took her home.
SOFIA AND AIMSCIOUS' HUT
They arrive home. Mart took Sofia's hand and helped her into the hut. Aimscious followed them distressed.
" Take mother to her room so she can rest. I will fix something for her to eat", Aimscious urged Mart.
She left for the kitchen. Mart stayed by Sofia until Aimscious returned from the Kitchen.
" Have something mother so that you can take your medicine ", she uttered putting the food on a table near the bed.
Mart helped Sofia to sit up.
Aimscious fed her hot soup with a depressed look on her face, deep in thoughts.
Aims......, Aims.....,
Sofia called in a calm voice but Aimscious stood by her, lost in thoughts. Mart pressed her hand gently to signal her.
" Mum is talking to you", he whispered.
She looked at her mum and forced a smile.
" What were you saying mum...", she asked.
" You look lost , is everything okay with you", Sofia asked her, worried.
" yes mum..., am perfectly fine , just a little tired" , She assured her faking a smile.
After taking the soup, Aimscious gave her the medicine and helped her rest on the bed. Mart stood up and walked slowly to Sofia's bed.
"will be leaving now mum, its almost late", he exclaimed.
" OK, take care, my regards to your mother", Sofia uttered faintly.
" Am seeing him off then, I will be back shortly ", she called to her mother.
They both left the house.
ALONG THE ROAD
" Why did you leave class without informing me. If I had not arrived there on time, I don't know what the result may be" , Mart exclaimed worriedly.
But Aimscious didn't utter a word. He turned to find out the reason why she was not answering him and saw her crying.
He hugged her and dried her tears.
" Why are you crying, why are you doing this to yourself. why are you punishing yourself with tears..", he asked almost in tears.
" Why me.....? Why is this happening in my life...? Why is life treating me so unfairly?,
Its first took my joy...,Betty, Nicole and dad, and then my family moments and now it want to take my mother, my last hope........"
she laments and breaks down in tears.
Mart pulled her closer , moved his face slowly towards her and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. She closed her eyes and felt his soft lips touch her skin gently and consolingly.
" Don't say that, Aims, am here with you and I know all will be well. Just focus on the sparkles in your destiny and move forward strongly with ambition , will always be there for you and support you no matter what..", he uttered and hugged her.
She felt her heart skip and felt save in his arms.
" Thank you Mart , for always been there for me and encouraging me", she uttered and smiles.
" Just promise you will be strong and take good care of mother and yourself but please always let me know your whereabout.." he cautioned.
She nodded in response and made a pinky promise. She looked back at the hut concerned.
" I have to get back to the hut now, Mum may be in need of something, will leave you here. Call me when you get home, bye........".
She explained and smiled.
They departed on their separate way.
" My regards to your mother, tell her that I miss her so much and will visit soon.", she shouted from afar running.
" Alright, will get her informed.....", he shouted back and smiled.
