Chapter 5

“I really enjoyed this meal with you,” Charlotte said as he held his hands firmly as she flashed him a small smile. “Same here. Why did you tip that young waiter?” Scott asked with curiosity in his eyes. “Why would you ask me that question?” Charlotte said with her eyebrows raised in shock. “My curiosity ought to be extinguished,” Scott said as he noticed her bulging attitude toward him. “Appreciating a young fellow for his good deeds and love for his job is what I just did. It seems you don't quite appreciate people for their deeds," Charlotte said in a mannerless tone. “I do but on rare occasions,” Scott confessed, realizing the importance of Charlotte's act and he aught to agree with her. “That's quite odd,” Charlotte said, revealing the ways of Bacon Hills. She continued. “Appreciation goes a long way to tell different things in the lives of people. It makes them feel deserving and raises the hope of doing good to get handsome rewards.” “No wonder people stared at you with so much interest.” “Yeah right. Where's my apartment?” Charlotte asked after checking her wristwatch and sipping her last drink. “Right over here. It's a one-room luxury apartment. Well furnished and designed to your taste. You'll love it here I promise” Scott said in a loud tone. Charlotte admired the trimmed grass. A peaceful garden filled with the scents of beautiful flowers. “I love it. The exterior alone seals the deal” Charlotte said with a smile on her face watching Scott's movements. “Ok glad you love it. How about we check the interior designs?” Scott said as he was about to walk. Charlotte stopped him in his tracks and asked “We?” “Yeah, we” Scott replied in a confused voice. “Well, the truth is that I loved this apartment and was satisfied with the exterior view. The interior wouldn't be an exception. Thank you very much. I'll take it from here. Goodnight, I'll meet you in the morning," Charlotte said as she collected the keys to the house and walked to the door, opened it, and locked it from inside. Scott stood surprised at what Charlotte did. He could recall how many girls who had visited this house would love to spend quality night time with him but Charlotte was an exception and that sent shivers down his spine. “It's just the beginning. Everyone gets to see the ending,” Scott said as he walked back to his own mansion. His mansion was an edifice. Designed with marbles. Very trimmed grass, a garden of roses. Beautiful paintings on the walls, decorated lamps. It's very impressive when someone walks into his house. Scott sees this house as a less deserving gift he got from his late father. “Now I've got to shower and relax,” Charlotte said as she pulled off her clothes. She was stark naked when she heard someone knock. She quickly wore her revealing nightgown and rushed to the door. “Hey Charlotte” “Hi Lydia” “Can I come in?” Lydia asked as Charlotte hid herself behind the door. “Oh yeah, come on in” Charlotte answered, watching Lydia walk admiring the beauty of the house. “You see there's a little tiny problem I have now, and I know you're the only one who can solve it for me.” Lydia said as she held her hands in fear. “What's that?” Charlotte asked, filled with confusion. “I was rehearsing my spells and someone fell victim and I think I had killed him. It's a squirrel that's meant to die and not him.” “Is he dead?” Charlotte asked “No, but I think he's still unconscious” “Well revive him” Charlotte advised. “I can't. My sister literally chased me out of our house. My spell book is in her hands now and I don't know what to do now” Lydia answered confessed with tears welled up in her eyes. “Can you bring in your victim?” Charlotte asked, remembering the ways they use to revive someone who passed out due to shock or pain. “Yes, he's right outside your fence” Lydia answered with a smile on her face. Her instincts drove her to carry the body to Charlotte's house. “Well get him into the house. Let's see what I can do to revive him.” Charlotte said “Thank you so much I knew I could rely on you,” Lydia replied as she walked out of the house to bring him in. “Go and get him first.” Charlotte obliged as she ran into her room to change into something befitting and not revealing. “He's quite heavy. Why does your spell choose fat people” “I don't know but what I know is let this man leave. I don't want to be banished from a land that accepted me as their own.” “He's still breathing. Get me a bowl of water and a wiping towel” Charlotte said in a soft voice. “Here it is Charlotte” “Soak the wiping towel and give it to me.” “Here you go” Lydia replied as she watched Charlotte in fear. Charlotte was careful enough not to shake him off. She revived him (Coughs) “Where am I?” “Sorry boy, you have to be with your family, you're in the wrong place,” Lydia said to the man that she hit. “Is that so?” He asked “Yes. Leave before the night watchers begin their watch.” Lydia trying to convince him. “The truth is that you had fainted and I revived you. You were hit by a spell casted unknowingly.” Charlotte confessed as she carried the bow to the kitchen “Yeah, that's how they behave." The man replied as he stood up to leave "What was that?" Charlotte's brow creased in confusion.
