“What repercussions would you face?” Charlotte asked with her fingers crossed in anxiety.
There is no crime casting spell she thought.
“I was suspended from performing spells. It's so absurd, who's a witch without her spells? So I banished myself from my land so that I would be able to perform my duties as a witch," Lydia answered as she stared right into the eyes of Charlotte.
“In that case, your sister also committed the same crime, right?”
“She didn't. She just couldn't stand a day without her sister, so she had no option but to follow me until my suspension period expired. We walked through towns and stopped here due to its remarkable peace and tranquility that it's filled with.”
“That's quite a story, I must say. Your stubborn nature landed you in this situation,” Charlotte said in a mocking tone.
“Your people's hatred and greed landed you in this situation” Lydia answered, mocking her also.
“It seems we all know the ethics and lessons from our different lives and it's tribulations”
“Yeah, so what's next?” Lydia asked, just as Scott approached them.
“It seems you two have had quite an acquaintance,” Scott said as he glanced at the explained look on both faces.
“I had quite the fun spending time with you,” Charlotte said as she opted for a handshake.
“The feeling is the same here,” Lydia replied, welcoming her hands to seal the handshake.
“Charlotte, I'll show you your apartment now. Let's," Scott said as he helped her to her feet.
“You don't have to always show you're a gentleman, Mr. Scott," Lydia said as she raised the tea jug and cups from the table with the intention of taking them inside the house.
“It's in my nature to treat guests to the utmost satisfaction, even if it's to my own detriment,” Scott replied with a big smile on his face.
“Well, I am also a guest, but you have stopped your treatment on me,” Lydia said, wearing a pretending sad look on her face.
“Well that's because I've seen your utmost satisfaction,” Scott replied as he folded his arms in akimbo.
“Wow, isn't that so true? Well, it's not a problem. You have given me satisfaction, so I appreciate it.” Lydia complimented him with true feelings, remembering all the good things he had done for her and her sister. The shelter, clothing, and food.
“You're welcome. Will you let us go now?” Scott asked as we waited for her response.
“Of course. Charlotte, I'll see you some other time.” Lydia answered as she walked into her house.
“She's really a nice person.” Charlotte complimented Lydia's welcoming nature and manner of approach.
“Everyone likes her but hates her for the smoke and nuisance her failed spells bring to us,” Scott said as they both smirked, knowing fully well that they were once victims of Lydia's failed spells.
“What do you mean by fake spells?” Charlotte asked in a mild voice.
“Spells that are meant to train her for a ceremony where she will be initiated into the black coven of witches,” Scott explained.
“What would happen if she failed at the ceremony?” Charlotte asked with a worrisome look on her face regarding the fate of Lydia.
“It's not our matter to discuss, so that aside, how's the atmospheric conditions of Bacon Hills?” Scott asked with his eager eyes staring down at her.
“It's heartwarming, I must say. Nature's radiance and its beauty in its plants. It's really peaceful, I must say”, Charlotte answered, in anticipation and happiness.
“What's with the sudden look on your face?” Scott asked, as he saw the demeaning look on her face.
“It's because this peace here is so pure that I wouldn't want to be a threat to it,” Charlotte said in deep exhales.
“Don't say things like that. Remember I was the one that brought you here, so you're not a threat to anything” Scott said encouraging her to withdraw her feelings of fear.
“Are you sure about this?” Charlotte asked, fighting her feelings of fear and sudden anxiety.
“Clearly certain and, by the way, you're not that kind of person that would cause trouble. Isn't that right?” Scott asked in a mild tone.
“I guess so,” Charlotte said in a less convincing manner.
“There's no guessing but certainty,” Scott said, wearing a firm convincing face.
“OK fine'" Charlotte replied in a mannerless tone.
“In that case how about we eat before going to your apartment?” Scott asked.
“Food is the least of my worries now. Can we get to the shelter first?” Charlotte asked as she released his grasp on her wrist and continued walking.
Scott ran to meet up with her and grabbed her by her hands and said in a very low tone.
“The shelter is waiting but I know your stomach is grumbling and mine too let's feed first and we'll go back to the shelter”
“Alright if it makes you happy,” Charlotte said as she felt the connection.
The connection was so deep that she had to control it while they both walked into the restaurant which was fully occupied with people.
“Please sit,” Scott said, pulling out a seat from the duo table (a table meant for two lovers).
“Welcome to Bacon Hills Fries and chips. Here's the menu” The waiter said as he placed the menu in Charlotte's hands.
“I'll have sausage and meat sauce,” Charlotte said as she gave Scott the menu.
“I'll have whatever she's having,” Scott said as he placed the menu back in the hands of the waiter who then walked to the counter.
“You care for wine?.” Scott asked with a cynical smile on his face.
“I've had quite a few liquids today. I'll go on solids now” Charlotte confessed.
“In that case, I'll drink alone,” Scott said while he poured himself wine into a cup to drink.
“Alright” Charlotte replied as she felt her stomach grumble. The worms in her stomach had risen, and she watched the counter closely. She wore a smile on her face when she saw the waiter walking towards their table.
“Hmmm” Charlotte congratulated the waiter, feeling the sweetness of the meat sauce and the crispness of the sausage.
“It's really delicious. You guys are really good at what you do” Scott complimented.
“Thank you, sir. Thank you ma, Enjoy your meal” The waiter said as he walked back to the counter.
