LAURA’S POV
“She’s dead. f**k Jade, they shot her. We should’ve never called her.”
“Laura, you need to get it together. We need to get away from here. They will keep coming.” Jade pulled me up from the floor and we started running. I don’t know where. Yet again, we have no safe place. Maybe I should just let my mother and jade’s father call checkmate because I’m out of moves.
“Come, Laura, please,” Jade said when I pulled out of his hand.
“I just need a damn minute to catch my breath.” Jade’s eyes flash dark when the man in the suit appeared behind us.
“Laura, let’s go.” fear howls down my throat when the man raises the gun to shoot, but Jade pulled me into an alley but we never stop running. My mouth dried up, but I’ve managed to get some words out to yell at Jade to slow down.
