Bonds of love

Chapter Three

Elena, after a week of work, realized that leaving her son with her friend was not a good idea. In addition to that taking up a lot of Elena's time, she ended up getting in the way of Giovanna, who always said that she didn't have any problems and that she didn't get in the way. But Elena didn't want to disturb anyone, and she decided to look for a day care center where she could leave her son safely while she worked.

Decided to look for alternatives, Elena started looking for day care centers in the region. After a few visits, she found a day care center close to her workplace, with a safe and welcoming environment for her son. She felt relieved to make this decision, as she knew her son would be in good hands while she was at work.

And today, she was going to leave her son on his first day at the daycare and from there she would go on to work, but Elena was in a tremendous rush that morning, the alarm clock had not gone off at the right time, breakfast was prepared in a hurry, and she barely had time to get ready properly. Elena found herself in a real frenzy to get ready and prepare everything in time. She took her son in her arms and then her purse.

Leaving the house in a hurry, Elena took a bus and headed towards the nursery. Upon arriving at the scene, Elena practically ran to the nursery gate. In the midst of all that commotion, Elena ended up bumping into someone and, instinctively, let go of the bag she was holding. Desperate, she looked at the floor, seeing her belongings spread out and quickly bent down to pick them up, with little Peter still in her arms clinging to his mother's body.

As she lifted her gaze, she glanced at the person she had bumped into and immediately noticed his dazzling appearance. The man had deep dark eyes that seemed to see right into your soul. He smiled gently as he bent down and helped Elena collect items from her.

— I'm sorry about our date, I was so distracted. — said Elena quickly.

— Don't worry. — replied the man in a soft voice. — Happens to all of us.

Elena thanked her as she slung her bag over her shoulder and then ran into the daycare, leaving the man behind. She entered the room where she left her son and apologized to the teacher for her haste. As she said goodbye to her son, Elena couldn't stop thinking about the handsome man at the gate.

As she drove to work, her mind kept flashing back to those piercing eyes and that charming smile. She wondered who he was and why she felt an immediate connection with him. Even if it had been a brief encounter, something about the man intrigued her.

Luke entered his luxurious office, enjoying the panoramic view of the city that stretched beyond the glass windows. The environment was imposing, with elegant furniture and an exquisite decoration that reflected the prestige of the company, of which Luke was vice president.

With a sigh, he turned away from the huge windows. The atmosphere was peaceful, as if the morning calm permeated the entire environment.

Deciding to share his excitement with someone, he grabbed his cell phone and dialed the number of his friend and company president, Louis. As the call rang, Luke thought about how to explain his predicament. After all, how could he have been enchanted by an unknown woman?

After a few rings, Louis answered the call.

— Luke, my friend! How are you? I'm a little busy at the moment, but tell me, what happened? — said Louis, his voice a little muffled by the background noise.

— Sorry to interrupt, Louis, but I needed to share this with someone. You won't believe the situation I found myself in this morning. — Luke replied, trying to control the animation in his voice.

Upon hearing his friend's enthusiasm, even in the middle of his chores, Louis became curious and replied:

— Tell me everything, Luke. What happened?

Luke excitedly explained that while taking his niece to daycare, he met an incredibly beautiful woman. She seemed to emanate a captivating aura, and her eyes glowed with a unique intensity.

— But the trouble is, I don't know her name. I don't think I'll ever see her again. — Luke admitted, now there was a note of disappointment in his voice.

Louis, in turn, tried to calm his friend.

— Luke, these things happen. Sometimes life gives us fleeting encounters, but maybe it's just a matter of time before you find her again. Don't lose hope.

Luke sighed, feeling more reassured by Louis's words.

— You're right, Louis. I have to keep hope alive and, who knows, fate will bring me the opportunity to find it again.

— That's how you say it, man. — Louis said. — now, before I end the call, I want to tell you something.

— What would it be? — Luke asked curiously.

— I'm returning from a trip earlier than agreed. There were some problems... — says Louis, sighing.

— Hey, what happened? — Luke asked worriedly.

— I'm splitting up with Jessy. — says Louis.

— Wow, man. And how are you? — Luke asks, trying to convey tranquility in his voice.

— I am fine. My separation from Jessy is completely agreed on by both parties. — says Louis. — in the beginning, everything was perfect, however, with time everything became exhausting, and we realized that we didn't work anymore.

— Our. I was surprised, but glad they had a smooth separation. — says Luke. — but, between us, do you still think about Elena, your ex-wife?

— I regret everything I did with her, and yes, I still think about her, even more so now that I see that I traded a certain relationship for something fleeting... — Luke hears his friend's sigh. — I tried looking for her some time ago, after abandoning her and completely losing connection with her, but I couldn't find her, she didn't live in the same place anymore and nobody knows where she went. It breaks my heart to think of how she and my son are now. I'm a lying scoundrel, I left my wife with a small child...

— If I were Elena, and I found you again, I would kick her in the balls. — Luke says, smiling.

— Now I need to go, see you in two weeks. — says Louis.

Saying goodbye to his friend, Luke ended the call and turned his attention back to his office. Still lulled by the conversation, he knew he should resume his responsibilities as vice president of the company.

While his tasks occupied his mind, Luke kept a flame of hope burning in his heart. Who knows, at some point, he and that mysterious woman would meet again and be able to explore what fate had in store for them.

With a smile on his face, Luke returned to his work, knowing that the future would bring surprises and that, perhaps, that beautiful woman would be part of them.
