Anna
The storm raged on the other side of the frozen pane. I leaned against the frost, the cold seeped into my forehead.
“Miss Anna you’re pacing around here like a trapped animal, I have a mind to send you out to the barn with the menfolk,” Iris said.
I pulled my head away from the glass and stared at the swirling flakes.
“My apologies, for I am restless.”
The hypnotic flakes drew me back. Something moved, out past the field. It can’t be, not in this maelstrom. The horses were in the stables, yet the shadow on the road was the size of one.
Gemma was playing on the floor with her toy train; I darted past her and grabbed my coat.
