The rest of the week seemed to fly by. I didn’t see Mike at all, but I’d traded a few emails with him about the kaizen and his open position. He asked me to check in on the department for a few days, like he’d asked all the managers. It seemed he was passing around the responsibility to everyone who was already at that pay grade, whether to test us out or to share the load I wasn’t sure. Either way, it kept me in touch with Mike more than I’d wanted to be. By Friday afternoon, after spending more time than I’d wanted in X-7L, I was scrambling to finish up the work I needed to do for the kaizen.
