(Eric)
I'm standing by the window look out, while my brother has his head in his hands sitting at the end of the bed. We've been waiting silently for are mom to come. Both of us are in our own heads. I can feel his emotions as I know he can feel mine. Both of us are ashamed and guilty for what we just did. The most messed up part is Wild was right our father would be ashamed of us. Ashamed and angry that we hurt Wild. Dad always had a weak spot for her, always calling her his little princess. At one time we did treat her like a little sister. We would always be worried about her getting hurt or if someone tried to pick on her, we were there to beat them up. Thinking about the last ten years was making me feel sick. How happy we were when a rouge vampire had attacked her shortly after she woke up after being kidnapped. What kind of monsters had we become? How could we allow ourselves to sink so low as to cause her even more pain? "We don't deserve her forgiveness. We don't deserve to be breathing. All we deserve is to suffer the same way she has." I say in anguish. "I know." is all I hear from my brother. He sounds just as broken as me. "Why did it take so long to see that we were the ones who are pathetic? Not her but us." I thought. Our door creaked open and there stood our mom. It looks like she's been crying and I know we were the cause of it. "How is she?" Elijah asked lifting his face from his hands. "Why, do you care now? After all you two have put her through." she snaps anger coming back to her face. Elijah looks down at his hands, I can feel how ashamed he is and I also feel the same. Our mom Gracie takes a deep breath to calm herself. "Sit down Eric, I need to tell you both something that your father once told me." This had the both of us perking up at the mention of our dad. Mom hardly ever talks about him and we know the reason was because it was painful for her. I move from the window to sit by Elijah, it only takes me a couple of step. "Now what I'm going to tell you is about the night Wild was found. It was after I had sent you both back to your room, after confirming there was no more danger. When your grandma and uncle came through the door holding a bloody bundle in his arm and Chase and Josh practically dragging an almost dead fae troll behind him. Your father had a vision, he didn't say anything to anyone there and honestly I don't think anyone really noticed but me. There was debating on where Wild should go. Your dad spoke up and said that she would be welcomed into our family. When everything finally settled we went back to our room. Once I had layed her down in the crib in our room, I asked your father what it was that he saw." She takes a moment to gather herself as my mind wonders back to when we were ten. Mom had a miscarriage, it was to be a girl. This had happened shortly before Wild had appeared. I remember how distraught mom was after it. Elijah and I had snuck to our parents bedroom door to see mom only to hear her and dad talking about how she wouldn't be able to have another child. As kids we didn't quite understand why, after all we were ten. It would be a few months later after dad died that we found out. Due to problems with the miscarriage she had it made it impossible for her to have any more. My mom's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.
"Anyway, as I was saying I asked your dad what he saw. He said he saw what she could be, if loved correctly. That she could be our salvation or our destruction. Of course being me I couldn't help but ask what the hell is that supposed to mean? You know your father he chuckled at me before answering me. If we can't give her the love that she needs in this life time then we all lose. It's been over thirteen years and I still remember those words word for word. I still don't understand why but all I know is that your father wanted her to know what real love feels like. To know what it feels like to have those around you only want the best. Think about what your father wanted not only for her but the two of you as well."
(Elijah)
My mom left after she was done talking. Sadness and anger was all I could feel. Anger at myself for forgetting that my dad was a kind man and only scary to those who truly deserve it. I had to admit I deserve it. I deserve much worse than what I did to Wild. She deserves to have big brothers that would protect her not punch her or kick her. She deserves so much better than what we have given her. "We will take the beatings that are coming our way. Don't even try to block, cause what we've done is something we can never undo." I say looking at Eric in the eyes that look just like mine. "I'm with you brother, we need to protect her. We need to be better." Eric says with determination. "We should get some sleep, I guess." I say. "So my boys are finally getting their heads out of their buts." We both snap our heads to a voice we haven't heard in years. "Dad?" we say at the same time. He nobs his head. We get and try to hug him but he puts his hands up to stop us. "How?" I ask. "In time you will know but for now let's just say I know this awesome person who can bring people back though I'm a little different from how I was." He says with a smile. "Does Mom know?" Eric asked. Dad's smile is gone and Sadness is etched onto his face. "No and don't tell her, at least not yet. Next time I come I promise I'll stay and talk to her. I came here to tell you boys that you need to not beat yourselves up over this do what you need to forgive yourselves. If you two will stop and think Wild is been doing the same thing you two have been doing. She's been blaming herself over what happened. I have to go now but promise me one thing." We both nod our heads. "Be there for her. She doesn't know this yet but she's going to need you." With that our dad disappeared into a cloud of smoke.
(Six Years Later)
"After that well you know we got our asses kicked for over a month." I finished telling the story as I continued to draw circles on Wild's back. "Okay so dad is alive but hiding somewhere." Wild says with bewilderment and hope in her eyes. "Well not anymore." I say. She gives me a confused look and is about to say something when Eric answers. "He's back home, mom's pissed at him, happy but pissed. Turns out dad went missing, right after you were taken. They all thought Angelica was the one who stole his body turns out someone else did and saved his life. Dad won't say who, but he told us we needed to be here for you. He said you needed us." "Well that explains everything." Wild says sarcastically. "Well the good thing is he is still as cryptic as ever." I say as we all look to one another we start laughing.
