But mostly because Lily had earned an advantage for doing exactly what I'd been punished for. She'd shared. I'd admitted nothing. Apparently honesty was worth rewards, while self-preservation earned seafood nightmares. Ridiculous. At least until Mr. Bennett read her advantage aloud. Then Sandoval beat me to the dock. Barely. By like two seconds. Okay, maybe more like five. It didn't matter. He’d beat me. How? I'd been captain of my swim team. I'd won conference titles.
