Nobody spoke. The silence inside the underground chamber felt heavier than the concrete above us. I looked from Grim to Mara. Then back to the phone still clutched in Grim's hand. "The call..." I whispered. "It came through the tunnel?" Mara nodded slowly. "That line was installed over twenty years ago." Her voice sounded distant. "It was never connected to the public network."
