Luna’s POV
My memories are broken.
That is the truth I wake up with every day.
Some days, I remember small things. The smell of rain.
The sound of wolves howling at night. The warmth of a baby against my chest.
Other days, everything feels empty, like my head is filled with fog and pain.
But one thing is clear now.
Someone touched my past.
Someone changed my life.
And someone stole something from me.
I sit in Aurora’s room as the fire burns low. The light dances on the walls, but my heart feels cold. My hands are shaking.
I hold them tight on my lap so she will not see.
Aurora sits across from me. Her face looks tired. Her eyes avoid mine.
She knows something. I can feel it.
“Aurora,” I say softly. “Please. No more lies.”
She takes a deep breath. “Luna…”
“Tell me the truth,” I say, my voice breaking. “Even if it hurts.”
She looks at me then. Her eyes are full of pain. And fear.
“The night you lost your memory,” she says slowly, “was not an accident.”
My heart beats fast. “Then what was it?”
She stands up and walks to the window. The moonlight falls on her face.
“That night,” she says, “a deal was made.”
I freeze. “A deal?”
“Yes,” she replies. “A dark pact.”
The words hit me like a slap.
“What kind of deal?” I whisper.
She turns back to me. “A deal that involves your children.”
My breath stops.
“My… children?”
Her voice shakes. “You were pregnant with twins, Luna.”
I stand up so fast that the chair falls back.
“Twins?” I shout. “No. I had one baby. I remember one.”
She closes her eyes. “That is what they wanted you to remember.”
My chest hurts. I press my hand there.
“You had two babies,” she says again. “Two strong, healthy children.”
My legs feel weak. I sit back down.
“Then where are they?” I ask.
Silence fills the room.
“Aurora,” I warn. “Answer me.”
“One was taken,” she says quietly. “The other was placed in your arms.”
The world spins.
“Taken?” I repeat. “Taken by who?”
She does not answer.
I walk closer to her. “Who took my child?”
Her lips tremble. “Luna…”
“Say it!” I scream. “Say the name!”
She swallows hard. “The one who took your child… was a powerful Alpha.”
My heart stops beating.
A powerful Alpha.
Only two names come to my mind.
Ryder.
Ethan.
My hands curl into fists.
“No,” I whisper. “It can’t be.”
Aurora looks away.
“The magic used that night,” she says, “was strong. Forbidden. Only a few Alphas have that power.”
I shake my head. “Ryder would never hurt me.” She says nothing.
“And Ethan,” I add, my voice low. “He loved me.”
Her silence screams louder than words.
“Which one?” I ask. “Tell me which one.”
“I don’t know,” she says quickly. “I swear, Luna. I don’t know which one took your real child.”
Tears fell from my eyes.
I remember Ryder’s touch. Cold but strong. The way he looked at me was like he owned me.
Then I remember Ethan’s smile. Warm. Gentle. The way he held my hand and told me I was safe.
One of them is a liar.
One of them is a thief.
One of them stole my baby.
“Why?” I cry. “Why would they do this?”
Aurora comes closer. “Your children were special.”
I laugh through my tears. “Every mother thinks that.”
“No,” she says firmly. “They were born under the blood moon. Their power scared many.”
My body shakes. “So they made a deal?”
“Yes,” she says. “A peace child. A child for power.”
I grab her arms. “And you let this happen?”
She starts crying. “I had no choice. They would have killed you.”
I let go of her.
“I would rather die,” I whisper, “than lose my child.”
She shakes her head. “You don’t mean that.”
“Yes, I do,” I say.
The room goes quiet.
After a long moment, she speaks again.
“The baby you raised,” she says, “was placed in your arms to protect you.”
I look up. “Protect me from what?”
“From remembering,” she answers.
My chest feels tight.
“So every smile,” I say slowly, “every laugh… was built on a lie.”
She nods.
Anger burns inside me.
I walk out of the room without another word.
The night air is cold. The moon is high. Wolves howl in the distance.
I feel something awaken inside me.
Rage.
Pain.
And a mother’s hunger.
I walk through the park grounds. Every face I pass looks strange. Who else knows? Who else lied to me?
“Luna.”
I stop.
Ryder’s voice.
I turn and see him standing there. Tall. Strong. His eyes glow in the dark.
“You should not be out here alone,” he says.
I laugh bitterly. “You care now?”
He frowns. “What is wrong?”
I step closer to him. “Tell me the truth.”
He stiffens. “About what?”
“My past,” I say. “My memory.”
He looks away.
My heart breaks more.
“Did you do it?” I ask. “Did you take my child?”
His jaw tightens. “You don’t know what you are saying.”
“Answer me!” I shout.
He steps closer. “Lower your voice.”
“No,” I snapped. “You took something from me.”
His eyes flash. “I protected you.”
My breath catches. “Protect me… or yourself?”
He says nothing.
I push past him and walk away.
My chest burns.
Later that night, I find Ethan near the river.
He smiles when he sees me. “Luna. I was looking for you.”
I study his face. “Were you?”
“Yes,” he says. “I was worried.”
I fold my arms. “Tell me something.”
“Anything,” he says gently.
“Did you steal my child?” I ask.
His smile fades.
“Why would you ask that?” he says.
“Because someone did,” I reply. “And it was either you or Ryder.”
Pain fills his eyes.
“I loved you,” he says softly.
“Love does not steal babies,” I reply.
He steps closer. “I would never hurt you.”
“But you hurt me anyway,” I whisper.
He reaches for my hand. I pull away.
“Don’t touch me,” I say. “Not until I know the truth.”
Silence falls between us.
I walk away again.
That night, sleep did not come.
I sit alone and cry until my chest hurts.
One child is mine.
One child is missing.
And the man who stole my baby sleeps under the same moon as me.
Before dawn, Aurora comes to me again.
“Luna,” she whispers.
I look at her with red eyes.
She kneels in front of me. “I am sorry.”
I say nothing.
She takes my hands. “You must be careful.”
“Why?” I ask.
“Because the Alpha who took your child,” she says, her voice shaking, “is watching you.”
My heart pounds.
“Luna,” Aurora whispers, leaning closer. “One of these men stole your real child…”
She pauses.
“And what if,” I whisper, “I am sleeping beside my enemy?”
I look up at the door, my heart racing.
Which one is it?
