Damon's POV
I heard my father's voice before I turned the corner, and something in it made every hair on my arms stand up.
"Run along, little maid. For now."
I rounded into the old wing in time to see Elena, spine straight, chin up despite whatever had just happened in that room, walking fast toward the corridor, away from him.
The very girl that makes me feel things I swore never to feel.
My father stood in the doorway, wine cup in hand, watching her go like a man deciding whether to finish a meal or save it for later.
"Father." My voice came out harder than I meant it to. "What is this?"
"Discipline. None of your concern."
"Everything in this pack is my concern." I stepped past him, saw the boy chained in the corner, and felt something ugly twist in my chest.
"unchain him, now."
He didn't argue. He never argued when I used that voice. He set his wine down and walked out past me, unbothered, like he hadn't just been caught doing something even I wasn't supposed to do in this house.
I didn't chase after him.
I went after her instead.
"Elena Wilson." I called out.
She turned immediately.
"Alpha."
"What did he say to you?"
"Nothing important, Alpha."
"Don't lie to me." His jaw was tight, his eyes darker than I'd ever seen them, and something about the way he looked at me made my skin feel too warm under my uniform.
"What really happened in there?." I asked her, I don't know why I felt the sudden urge to make sure she was fine. This isn't who I am, I'm not supposed to care about anyone.
"Nothing really…"
"You're lying again." I said cutting her off.
"No am not ." I met her eyes, and I shouldn't have, the second I did, something in my chest pulled me toward her so hard it nearly buckled my knees. Right from the day I picked her, she felt familiar, just like the girl in my wet dreams. I was already rock hard just the thought of her.
I stepped closer.
Since that day, my wolf has been restless, she's so damn beautiful and smells faintly like vanilla, and more like air.
She doesn't smell like a human either. She just stood there looking at me her glasses well fitted on her face, her plump lips looked ravishing.
I closed the distance until I could smell her more which made my wolf go still and hungry at once.
"Alpha…" she called.
"Don't call me Alpha tonight, Just Damon." I looked at her, too surprised at my own reply.
"Damon." Her voice cracked on the single syllable. The she said my name made me to loose my mind.
"Now that's more like it" I said, trapping her against the wall while taking off her glasses.
Those eyes that haunted my dreams, I don't know what this feeling is but I could feel my wolf taking control, it has never wanted someone this badly before.
"What is this," I breathed. "What are you doing to me?"
"I'm not doing anything to..." I licked her ear cutting her off without warning and earning a moan from her. She looked so surprised.
"Then why can't I stop wanting to touch you?" I sounded helpless, and after my mother died I've never felt this way.
My thumb traced the line of her jaw, feather-light, and my wolf surged so hard against the wall of my control when she bit down on her lip.
"Don't do that," I warned, watching her mouth. "Don't bite your lip like that. Not around me."
"Am sorry I do it out of habit" she sounded scared.
"Elena I am one bad decision away from finding out exactly how it tastes." I said , my breathing ragged. My wolf was restless.
Without warning I lifted her chin, and kissed her hungrily, I felt like I had been starving for a long time. She finally broke off the kiss, but it didn't stop me I went for her neck instead, sucking on her sensitive spot intensely, that d**k threatened to tear my pants.
I felt her hand on my hair, my other hand found her waist and pulled her flush against me like the inch of space between us had personally offended me.
My mouth found hers again and I kissed her slowly this time, like I was trying to memorize her.
My wolf howled in triumph whenever she touched me, and for one dangerous, glorious moment I forgot that she was just my maid, I forgot about rules all I wanted was her.
I pulled back only far enough to breathe, her forehead resting against mine, both of us unsteady.
"Elena." Her name on mouth sounded like a confession I hadn't meant to make.
I kissed her again, softer this time, almost reverent, like I was apologizing for how hard I'd wanted the first one and then, all at once, I pulled back like he'd been burned.
"Fuckkkk" I cursed, running my hands through my hair.
"This is not supposed to happen." My voice had gone hoarse.
"Not with a staff. Not with…" I stopped myself, both hands raised, chest heaving.
"With what?"
"With you." I stepped back further, putting real distance between us, my composure sliding back like an armor snapping into place.
"You're my maid, Elena. Nothing more."
"Go to bed," I said. "Pretend this never happened."
She ran immediately, leaving me standing there in my own thoughts.
I walked away before I could change my mind. My chest aching in a way that I couldn't explain.
I made it three steps before the sound of retreating footsteps stopped me cold.
It was clearly not Elena's footsteps.
Someone had been standing in the dark the entire time.
Someone had seen everything.
