“Did you think I wouldn’t notice?” The voice wasn’t there, but I felt it. Like a phantom brushing against the edge of my awareness, subtle, unrelenting. My pulse spiked as I gripped the steering wheel tighter, knuckles whitening. The city lights blurred past the windshield, fractured by the drizzle that coated my helmet. I was alone. Or at least, that’s what the world thought. But I knew better. I could feel him. Not beside me. Not in the car. Not calling, texting, or stalking in some overt way. Just… there. Always there. Watching. Protecting. Ghosting me in the way only Adrian could. The absence of him was louder than any shout. The night was alive with rain-slick streets, neon reflections bleeding across wet asphalt. My car hugged each corner like it was part of me, part of a rhythm
