Jude’s POV
Aubrey didn’t want to stay any longer. I know she has an important job to get back to, and there is little for her to do here in Hawaii while I spend the next several days in the hospital at my father’s side, but I’m disappointed all the same. She has been a good source of comfort to me, taking care of my basic needs and supporting me emotionally in my time of need. I’m really going to miss her!
“Are you sure we’ve got everything?” I ask as I load our luggage into the rental car before taking Aubrey to the airport. She was heading back to Seattle without me, and I was moving to a hotel closer to the hospital in Kula. I will have no need for an expensive luxury resort on the beach, just basic accommodations to sleep in.
“I think so,” she says, sliding into the passenger
