“Did you just say that you love me?” I ask, even though I’m pretty sure that my ears are working perfectly fine.
“Well…, yes,” he confirms hesitantly, and looking a little uncomfortable at first. But then he seems to gain extra courage, because he stands up straight and looks me in the eye. “Yes! I do. Do I need to say it again? I love you, Aubrey!”
“But we’ve only known each other for a little over two months!” I remind him, trying to bring some sense into this conversation. “We’ve only been on a handful of actual dates. I mean, sure, the s*x has been pretty fantastic, but s****l compatibility is not really a basis for love or marriage!”
