Chapter ThirteenAfter the reply to the article had been e-mailed to the paper and after Tom had headed for home, Toby felt that he deserved a nightcap with the Captain. Just then his mobile rang. It was the BBC pressing for a panel where experts from either side of the argument could battle toe to toe about the rights and wrongs of the issue.
‘Could we have the Captain? That would be fantastic if we could.’
‘No way, Tim, I’m not going to subject him to that bear garden.’
Tim was Tim Bates, a BBC producer that Toby had got to know over the past two years: a decent man, in his opinion, and one who didn’t loose his sense of perspective.
