I couldn’t hide my anxiety from Nellie the next morning when I went to pick her up from her home behind the clinic. As I drove down to the farmers’ market, I told her what I’d found on my journey to the other realms.
“I knew that vampire was no good,” she said, shaking her head.
“We don’t know it’s her,” I said. “The Phoenix just said that vampires are known to use demonic magic.”
“I don’t see any other vampires in town,” scoffed Nellie.
