I DROPPED the girls back at Ceren’s place and swung by Jack’s to grab Eric. Usually we took his utility truck, but today we convoyed. We might have to split up, in a hurry. As I suspected, though, Suit and the creature had abandoned the house, leaving only scattered bloodstains. I tried to linger around the scene as long as possible, hoping they’d return, but that damn sense of duty that had me hunting monsters eventually sent me off to commune with one. Sooner than I hoped, we parked at Saint Michael’s.
