Chapter 26 THE VACANT, linoleum-tiled halls of the Frayville police station echoed with the dozen years I’d tromped up and down them. Eric had pulled the main breaker on our first visit two weeks ago, making the only illumination the dim amber emergency lights every few yards mingled with sunlight reflected through the one-way glass of the windows. I’d hoped that would soften some of the memories, but the change in lighting only emphasized different aspects of the abandoned precinct.
