Chapter 25 A rough hand shook Thomas into consciousness and for a moment he thought he was back in the loft at George and Eileen’s house. His half-asleep brain despaired at having to make the journey to Hawksmouth all over. Then he was shaken again and remembered where he was. His room was still dark, the only light coming from the common room. Thomas blinked the sleep out of his eyes and muttered an imprecation at the silhouette leaning over him— Benjamin or George from the size. “No time for that.” It was Benjamin. “The bishop’s soldiers are in the yard.” Thomas woke up, hard and fast.
