Chapter 9: Redemption.

2002 Words
Julia POV: It was no secret that I was not fond of the new Queen, she had been a scared little mouse when I had gotten her after the King basically had killed himself. I was angry with him, it was only weeks before I married his youngest great grandson whom he introduced me too. He had said nothing about Nadia other then he was going to give her the throne, he was pulling at me I had been sure, but when I went to collect his body, seeing the tiny girl and seeing the seal on her forehead, I was pissed, I was happy that she looked like she actually cared for the King when driving to the Portals, and she did take her job serious after taking over the throne, starting with firing the two people who was a pain in the ass. But after that everything started going wrong, one after another and then the day she almost killed us, only for Great White to come to the rescue, now I get that it was her own power slowly manifesting on top of the kings, hers being slower since she had been in the human realm for her entire life. But not coming back for 3 weeks and when she does she has the audacity to go to a hut instead of the royal chamber. I am now sitting in the car after escorting her to the Portals, thinking that we did indeed mistreat and disrespect her but who were we kidding, for all we knew the previous king could have picked up a random child just to mess with us. Getting our answers from the Elders were reasuring, but it was also there we all realized how roayally we had f****d up our chance to serve the Queen. She was right. I had declined being her friend, hell I hardly wanted to be in the same room as the woman who took my titel, but after the many answers we got about why and how our king was able to do this. I figured we could save the relationship we had ruined. But I was wrong, with her powers as a royal dragon manifested, she started to show her royal colors. The fact that she could control the Dragon's breath the way she did was amazing and scary as hell. But now even if I wanted to show my redemption, I could not. I got back to the castle, people still standing in the yard. “you took her?” The youngest elder asked. I nodded looking around at people whose spirit was now gone with the Queen. Jack went over to the stone altar and took up the letter. “You cannot read it '' The older Elder said, he just shrugged, when our Queen had called him Major Rude she was not joking. Jack read outloud from the letter she had left behind. “My dear Nadia. I don't have any reliable heirs, they all pretty much have their own lifes going for them. When I ended up here, I thought I was going to die alone and lonely, but having you here as my company for the long wait, was something I can only thank the Gods for. I have talked to my lawyer, she will explain everything you are inheriting from me, you will be well provided for, even though I know you have enough money as it is, but I want to give you my home. Use it and live on well. All my love and care for you my darling. Theodore Sylvia Silverbood” Jack passed on the letter to the elders and looked at the paper flower, he untangled the origami and read outloud. “Liar” It was all it said, Liar, she had responded to the letter with one word, four letters and she had nailed it. The elders were murmuring about something and eventually whatever they were discussing they decided to go with it. The oldest elder breathed on the letter and it was shining for only a second. As the elder was reading the letter he fell to the ground and clenched his robe. “You okay there elder?” Jack asked, the elder handed Jack the letter back and Jack took in a sharp breath and looked around before reading out loud. “My Elders. If you are reading this, it would mean one of two scenarios have happened. One is she had shown you the letter, one thing I do not see happening in the near future. The other one is she is under the belief that I have lied and have left this letter behind. It is the one I am going to go with. If she had indeed left the letter, therefore left the castle herself, you have all failed as my subjects. The small girl that you have all made leave, is not my descendant but I do believe she is of my DNA Line. The story she had confided in me, only because I was going to die, is that of a cursed child.” Jack looked over the letter and around hearing gasp after gasp. After swallowing he read on. “The Cursed daughter of a lineage of Dragons being exiled to the human realm for more than 10 generations. She has survived, she has grown and become a rightful heir to the throne, fighting her way against the curse and still ending up without the pain and insanity others have gotten along the way. You are on the losing end of a powerful person that could have made the kingdom flourish with new blood. I Hope you all find a way to get her back. Sincerely. Theodore Sylvia Silverbood P.S. If it was the first reason, I apologize for looking down upon my subjects” Jack sat on the ground holding his hair in his fists. “A cursed one” One of the elders mumbled. “For more than 10 generations” I felt like I had gotten hit in my gut by a force greater than the fog Our Queen could use. “What is a cursed one?” Lara the maid Our Queen liked asked, the elders looked at one another. “A cursed one is a child of 10 or more generations of exiled Dragons.” the youngest elder said. “how can you get exiled for generations? aren't you supposed to stay in the realm even if you give birth?” One of the Majors asked. “Yes, but as a fellow dragon when awakening, if you apply for the dragon realm, come here and then get exiled, you will have the same fate as your parents.” The older elder said. “It is uncommon for a family to keep the dragon blood going for that many generations, let alone keep the story of their family going.” The second oldest elder said, we were all standing there in silence. “It must be some strong genes to keep on the dragon blood?” Jack asked. “Yes, and no. If other exiled dragons had found one another and kept the breeding going, the dragon blood would not get thinned out by humans” I nodded, it was common knowledge that exiled dragons would meet up and shoot up. But how she had done nothing of the sort was beyond me. “So you lied” Lara said, a gasp came about the workers, the elders looked at one another, “A lie, to unite the people, she was our queen, one decided by our king, so we had to make you believe it too” some questions was asked and answered and everyone seemed satisfied with the explanation. The people started spreading out and doing their work, naively believing that Our Queen would come back. I was not so sure, we had done wrong by her. One good thing we had gotten out of her being here was that some of us had gotten a better relationship with one another. Jules, Jack, Lydia, Lara, the elders and myself were sitting in the Queens office going over some documents, working together to hold the ship over water. Lara was keeping us company and making sure we were fed, and that we went to bed from time to time. Weeks turned into months and our Queen had been away from the realm for 7 months now. I was going over some paperwork from a part of the realm thanking for the assistance of medical attention they had gotten. “Jezz, this is from when she abandoned us the first time.” I said, annoyed with it all. My feelings went from hot to cold in seconds when it came to the Queen. “But she did not,” Lara said. I turned and looked at her. “What?” I asked and Lara looked around the room. “She was asleep those 3 weeks she was gone, she was even confused when i said she had been gone for 3 weeks” Lara said again, Jack and Lydia backing up the claim. “WHAT?” I yelled, I had been so pissed about something she did not even do?. no one answered my outburst. “What more don’t I know?” I asked around, again Lara answered. “She said, I was the only one to respect her as the ruler, not seeking approval from either you or Sergeant Major Jules” I was stumped. She was right thinking back that the people seeing her or the workers at the castle had always looked at me before thanking or accepting a ruling she had made. I sat down hard on the sofa, looking at the empty chair where she had been sitting the first few weeks, smiling and talking while doing tedious paperwork and studying while I was just answering by default so she would shut up. I put my head in my hands. breathing hard. “What happened with her arm anyway?” I ask, not really sure if I want the answer. When Jack answered me, and Jules turned red from embarrassment, I felt even more stupid. That stunt they had pulled had made so much damage on the warriors that it was almost impossible for them to stay on the right track, they started questioning every authority and I had blamed her for it all. I had put blame on someone I did not have the right to blame. She had actually never asked or known about this before I came along and ruined her life. “Why did you bring her here?” Lara asked, pure curiosity was flowing in her words, no disrespect just a matter of fact question. I forgot to answer, or maybe I did not know how to answer. But Lara took it as a sign that I had no freaking Idea of what she was asking. “you could have brought back the king, gotten married and killed her when you needed the power” Lara said, there were some truth about her words, Our Queen could only manifest here in this realm so if she had stayed in the human realm we could have killed her and taken the Essence before anyone would know. And I would have been Queen with Miles as my Husband and King. But looking at how the future would have turned out, I would have been sitting in this room doing all the work and gotten no applause for it. A man who I never loved or cared for would have taken the credit because he was King, and I would have made all the work in that title's name. “I don't really know, I wanted to honor my king,” I said in a small voice while looking at the floor. I heard humming in the room. “And even that we f****d up” Jack said.
