Prologue

I turned my head to the sky. Little gleaming lights danced around the dark sky. Stars. They were the reflection of doc's description. Only prettier. I took a step forward. My feet sinking into the wet ground. The rocks digging into the burnt flesh of my feet. A cold brisk wind biting at my sensitive skin. The scent of burning flesh carried along with it. 'Go. Moon. I promise I'll be right behind you.' The words of the man who had taught me everything I knew rung in my head. He had sacrificed his life for mine. He was still in the building. The place I had called my home for seventeen years. The home of my brothers and my sisters. Where there was a four storied building above the ground with two stories beneath it was now reduced to nothing more than ash and rumble. I didn't know where I was going. Where I would live or if at all I would survive the world outside the facility, but I wouldn't let doc's sacrifice go to vain. I clenched the file he had given me before the guards had spotted us to my chest. 'What is this?' I had asked. My breathing ragged. 'This is your record. When we get out of here I need you to find Robert Miller. When you do, you will hand him this file and tell him William Sinclair sent you.' She unfolded the wrinkled paper that she had clenched in her fist. 1208 Mulholland drive. Robert Miller's address stared back at her. She would find him. She wouldn't die. For doc.
