Las Vegas, January 2013
"You are a disgrace for the underworld." As a guy with brunette hair said that, he stabbed a knife into his opponent's stomach. He drew his knife back and took a step back, felt a stream of satisfaction surrounding him as he saw bloods started to pool on the snow-covered-ground. The dark alley was the best place to throw a corpse.
"Hey." A woman called from the end of the alley made the guy turn her gaze to her.
The man who held the knife was contemplating whether he should killed her too or no. He gripped the knife tightly but decided to leave her be. She couldn't possibly be a nuisance in the future. He then left the alley towards another end.
When the wounded guy came to his sense, he was already in a hospital. His stomach was aching like hell. A flashback of his moment in that alley came to his mind. He suddenly remembered about his saviour.
"How are you feeling?" A guy with golden hair came to his room.
"It f*cking hurts," he groaned, tried his best to sit.
"I'm glad."
"What?"
"Since you still can talk trash, I believe you are definitely okay." The golden hair guy sat on a chair near his bed. "Do you remember anything?"
"Ugh," he groaned once again. "There was a woman with me."
"You were having fun with a woman?" His eyes widened.
The wounded guy glared at him. "I was stabbed by my brother. Half brother."
"And?"
"He was serious that time. I guess he gathered up all of his courage to do that."
The golden hair seemed uninterested.
"Then a woman came across us. She has a long black wavy hair and her eyes were dark." He told his visitor what came across his mind. "Ah, she was barefooted."
"Barefooted? In a cold night like that?"
"Yes. She wasn't in a good shape either."
"Do you know her name?"
"No."
The golden hair guy gasped. "Benjamin."
"Jeremy, I was wounded. I couldn't possibly asked her name."
"Okay. I understand." He got up from his chair.
"Where are you going?"
"We need to thank her, don't we?"
Jeremy left Benjamin's room and walked gracefully towards the receptionist. Most people that he encountered on the hallway would throw him a glance but he didn't care at all. He knocked the reception desk lightly when he saw some nurses gossiping.
"May I help you, Sir?" asked a nurse with a full lips.
"About the patient named Benjamin Jade. Where is the person who brought him in?"
"Ah, Mr Jade who came into ER in the middle of the night, right?"
"I believe so."
"He was brought by a woman."
"And?"
"Right after Mr Jade came into operating room, she registered him and gave us his phone. Then she passed out."
"Passed out?"
"Yes. She passed out due to hypothermia and she has many bruises on her body."
Jeremy couldn't believe his ears then decided to visit her room. He was just curious about that woman. When he opened her room door, the woman was already woke up. She was about to sit. No one was there for her, just like the nurses said.
Jeremy remembered how Benjamin described her. She had a long black wavy hair indeed, but her eyes colour weren't dark. They are spruce. She looked lost and alert in the same time. There was a cut on the corner of her lips. She really was in a bad shape. Jeremy shuddered on the sight of bruises on her neck and face. That woman eyes looked extremely similar with Benjamin Jade's eyes. Jeremy were weak of their gaze because it made him thrilled. Then, without any hesitation, he offered her his hand.
"You what?" Benjamin who was drinking almost choked.
"I offered her my protection," said Jeremy.
"Did she knew that you are a mafia?"
"You are the mafia." Jeremy took the cup in Benjamin's hand then placed it on a table. "I am a lawyer, remember?"
"You are a mafia too."
Jeremy plopped down on the couch. "Anyway, she rejected me."
"Why? Didn't you tell her you are a lawyer? I think she really need one."
"Now you accept me as a lawyer."
"You are a lawyer too though."
Jeremy chuckled. He remember how similar Benjamin and that woman was. While both of them have unusual eyes colours, their gaze held the same aura too.
Their first encountered wasn't pleasant either. It was fall and the night was starting to get cold when Jeremy found himself getting betrayed by his colleagues. His case and his documents was stolen. That was the first time he realized that even someone who seemed innocent could be evil.
He felt so angry and devastated. When he took a time to drink on a pub, he heard a gun shot. It was chaos when all the visitor started to get hysterical and run for their life. Jeremy was already half drunk and had no motivation to run when a guy with jade eyes grabbed him. Despite his eyes colour, his gaze were dark. He gripped Jeremy's hand hard, enough to make him sober.
"Come on." The jade eyes guy in front of him was already breathless. Instinctively, Jeremy followed the guy into hiding.
The gun shot stopped not long after they came into hiding. Jeremy was completely sober because of the run. He then realized the gun on the guy's hand. Blood was already covered his hand. He was shot on the hand and stomach.
"Were you the one they are looking for?"
The jade eyes guy was about to shushed him when one of the armed guy stand right in front of they hideout.
"Jade of the underworld, why are you hiding?" the guy grinned. "You disgraced the underworld, you know?"
Jeremy's eyes was about to pop when their opponent pointed his gun towards them.
"Sorry," whispered the jade eyes guy before covering Jeremy's eyes with one hand and shot his opponent with the gun on his other hand.
After that he told Jeremy to leave the hideout after 15 minutes then left. All that had been heard was shot guns one after another. Jeremy kept on seeing his watch then right after 15 minutes, the sound of shotguns was stopped, just like the jade eyes guy said.
