Navigating through the morning rush, Sila soon arrived at the towering glass skyscraper that housed her new work place. As the elevator door slid open, she stepped out into a spacious, brightly lit office space. She greeted the receptionist who walked her with a warm smile, directed her to a desk. Pointing at it is your space. Sila gave her a warm Smile, thank you. She flickered as she said you are welcome and swivel. Sila slipped into the chair to start going through the stack of peppers that were already there. A lady walked to her Good morning Miss Good morning Sila reciprocated with a grin Mrs. Chidinma said you should go through the papers I dropped on your desk and sign the agreement. Okay Sila nodded. Can I tell you something the lady whispered Yeah, sure? Sila replied in curiosity. The CEO, Mrs. Chidinma has a reputation for being though on her employees, she is known for her ruthless demeanor and iron-fitted leadership style. Sila glanced at her in shock are you serious? She smiled at her, you don't need to be afraid, I'm just making you aware of where you have entered so you can keep your head up working with that consciousness if you would rather not be fired within a month anyway, my name is Sarah she gave her hand with a warm smile. I'm Sila, Sila smiled back, spreading out her palm as they shake their hands and said it's a pleasure to meet you in unison. Sarah walked through the exit glass door. Mrs. Chidinma stopped Sarah at the exit as she saw her lingering outside while she was coming in. What are you doing here? She raised her eyebrows and tossed her head. I came to deliver the files to the new employee, Ma Sarah answered her shivering. Get out of my precent Chidinma gesticulated rudely waving away. She walked up to Sila's desk. What have you been doing since you came? She asked with a very mean look that made Sila lose her breath for some seconds I've been going through the peppers, she flabbergasted. Hmm…. I see, How long does it take to go through peppers? I am done Ma she dumbfounded. Chidinma pivoted immediately as she walks towards the exit, funnily that tickled Sila Good bring them to my office. She was wearing a red designer's gown and a black pair of heels. Her makeup was a kind of unusual as the red lipstick was too much and the brow too bold, you could tell from the texture, that the hair she's wearing is luxurious, but it didn't really look good on her. It looks a kind of weird for an old adult in her age to wear such a skinny and short gown, with her pot-belly sticking out. Chidinma is the CEO of “DANs SUMMIT ENTERPRISE”. She's a very successful businesswoman though her husband was the former owner of the company after he passed away, she possessed it. Her husband named the company after their fast and only child, Daniel, since he established it the very year he was born and the company became successful. Her Husband's name was Mr. Tunde. Tunde died a mysterious dead. Some say he committed suicide while others say he was choked to death, until date, no one knows who or what killed Tunde has Chidinma his wife dropped the case in court saying, she wants her husband to rest in peace. Chidinma is known far and wide as one of the richest women in the country. She's very strict and mean both to her employees, family members or anyone she meets, she loves whom she wants to love and despise whom she wants to despise without been conscientious as it seems she's dead to conscience. The only person that is considered to her as a normal human is her son Daniel. Sila arrived at Chidinma's office with the peppers she was asked to sign Here is it Ma, she dropped it on her table. Are you stupid? Chidinma yelled at her opening her eyes widely. Sila Shivered confused, not knowing what she did, she just stood still in shock waiting for her boss to tell her what she had done wrong that resulted in such an issue. How dare you drop that stingy book on my table? Chidinma continued yelling is your brain that of a fish? Am sorry Ma'am Sila said bending her knee in obeisances holding back her words Sorry for yourself! She forcefully opened the file as if they were fighting. After going through it, she signed the parts she's supposed to sign, kept one copy and gave the other to Sila, take this nonsense out of my hand and leave my office. Sila fearfully dashed out of the off. When Sila got to her desk, a drip of tear dropped from her eye, but she quickly wiped it off. It's the first time in her life someone is speaking to her in such a harsh tone as she was raised with so much love and care. She had a flashback of what just happened, when I got there she didn't even act like a human entered her office, she made me stood like a fool without even answering my greetings I didn't even drop that file rudely. Another tear dropped as she got very immediate and rested on her desk to cry in silence, "she even called me a fish brain. Sila thought of what she was doing to be very childish, immediately she wiped out her tears and sat up in Gilead. Days turned weeks and weeks turned months Sila was spotted arranging some files on the shelves when Sarah came to hurriedly grabbed her hand. We are in trouble she spoke tremulously Calm down Sarah, what happened? Sila asked disoriented Sarah quiver, A client came complaining that he wasn't satisfied with his last experience of how we managed his house construction. But we… Sara muddled But we were only working on his budge she said, spreading out her hand. Sarah dragged her away, I which you can say that to the boss, she's calling us. they both hurried to Chidinma's office. Immediately Chidinma sighted them, she started panicking. You fools what did you study in school! How dare you make a client complain? Don't you know what this company stands for? But we were… Sila tried to tell her they were working on his budget. Shut up! How dare you open that your stingy mouth when I'm talking? Sorry, Ma Sarah said bending her knees. Keep that sorry because will may need it when you are dismissed from this company. We worked on his budget! Sila said seething. This time, sila didn't want to cower in fear anymore, so she stood up to her boss calmly ignoring the risk of being sacked playing in her mind. She could see that her colleague Sarah was wilted under the pressure. Sila has been working for the company over a few months now, she puts in all her efforts and do everything humanly possible to grow the industry because she's eager to make her mark. But from her very first day, she felt the weight of Mrs. Chidinma's oppressive leadership bearing down on her. No matter how hard she works or how many hours she poured into projects, Mrs. Chidinma was never satisfied. She would belittle her efforts, criticize her work with cutting remarks.
