Chapter 6. First Flight Later that night, while Sam’s parents slept, Randolph woke Sam and said, “Hey, get up, man. Let’s go flying. If you’re gonna go through a flash with us, you gotta get used to a few things. Dress warm, it’ll be cold and windy.” Sam instantly went from asleep and relaxed to awake and afraid, but he refused to show his worry. He numbly nodded and squeaked out, “OK” as he pulled on a pair of pants he used for sailing, yellow waterproof overalls, over his pajamas. He put on a pair of elaborately embroidered snow boots his mother had bought at a yard sale, though they were far too big for him.
